Unable to update or install apps after update to 3.8.3

As the title says, since.i updated to 3.8.3 I can't update apps or install new ones, logs show it installing and then running docker, but the the green install button the apps page just spins. The same happens when trying to update. Nothing in the error logs at all.

Hello, have you tried restarting? Can you share your debug and logs according to the example post?

Weird, everything looks good! What do you see if you run docker logs runtipi and scroll a bit, do you see other errors?

I encountered the same problem when using the update all button. Cancelling the updates manually and then updating (without the backup) did work. So I'd guess it is related to the backup function.

Yes the backup can be blocking the update process because some apps save huge amount of data on disk and the timeout gets triggered before the task is finished

If this is the case, you can skip the backup, or use a custom eventsTimeout value https://runtipi.io/docs/getting-started/custom-settings

Just to clarify: The apps that I updated were just installed but never used, so the actual backup should have been quite fast - yet it was stuck for >15 minutes before I cancelled the update

Maybe something else was blocking the backup 🤔 Do you remember which app it was?

For me it was audiobookshelf, immich, librephotos, uptime kuma and portainer. Can't say if it tried to update them sequentially and it was stuck on audiobookshelf or if it was stuck on all of them

I just tried installing some apps, and I was able to install open-webui, drawio and bookstack, so it does not seem to affect me. Although open-webui took quite some time, so maybe it's just hitting a timeout limit on your machine?

I'm just trying again now and will try another app after, will look at the eventsTimeout link provided by @Nicolas as well, thanks @Nicolas I've set an eventsTimeout value and that seems to have done the trick, now able to install new apps and update those already installed @vheyh thanks for the tips as well, much appreciated
