Keypack Editor

Hello, we're just curious. We currently own a mechanical keyboard, but we also enjoy using mechakeys, but we were wondering, since we have a very good mechanical keyboard with really good sounds, when will it be possible for us to use the keypack editor, or create our own soundpacks and post it.

the answer is probably a bit longer and more complicated than you’d care to hear… gimme a minute to write the short answer is that I don’t really know if that will ever happen in mechakeys… The long answer: Robo & Fero have mostly abandoned the app/community. I am the only dev left and i have no permissions to update the backend, which is preventing me from pushing updates you guys want (unlinking, community store, change emails, etc.). Additionally, the legacy version still gets more attention the new version. Its basically come to a point where its no longer beneficial for me to develop closed source under mechakeys, in fact its 10x more difficult. So if you can expect anything: 1. one last v2 update to polish up existing features 2. open source development along a similar vein to avoid being blocked there is a small chance some features might get back ported to V2 and competitors. tbd, future is very much in the air my computer broke last year and I’m still dealing with the fallout, so not much happened in 2024. i should be more active in 2025 but probably in different communities
