Installing Firmware error
I'm getting the following error on the right and left board when trying to copy and paste the pre-compiled firmware. Any advice?

It sounds like you're having trouble flashing the firmware. What is the error you're seeing?
Also, make sure you're entering the bootloader by double-tapping the reset button before dragging the
.uf2
file to the NICENANO
drive.
You can find more info on flashing the firmware here: https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/firmware#installing-firmware
Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions!Firmware | Typeractive.xyz Documentation
If you're not familiar, ZMK is a wireless-focused firmware, and it powers our Corne Wireless.
Error 0x800701B1
super lazy/quick test - try a different USB port and/or cable? I think i got that once when i had a way-too-long extension cable
Tried that. I think my soldering job was crap - my solder wire diameter was too large to be effective (that and I suck). Got some thinner/better wire, going to clean it up and try it again. Will post back if that doesn't work
Still no dice. Damn.
updated error

mini-longshot, what if you pull a nice!nano? (i assume they're the board)
if it's not in anything, then it'll isolate it down further
What do you mean "pull"? And yes, that is the board
Same issue left and right, but the left all columns except 1 work fine. so weird.
Alright. So now the left fully works. Screen is black. Still getting the error above when trying to copy over the firmeare
oh, sorry, i mean pull as in, remove it from the PCB so it's just literally the nice nano and naught else.
the logic being - if it flashes when it's just plugged in to the PC and it's literally the nice nano sitting around, then yay! nd it's something else influencing things
Ahhhh. Got it. I'll give that a shot
Nope. Pulled it from the board. Used tweezers to activate the bootloader and tried to drop in the UF2 file. Still the same error. š¦
Hmph.. sanity check as well - this is my left/central half in bootloader mode and i can read the text file there.

(and copy stuff off)
Not a direct solve or anything, but validating something is functional
Here is mine. I can open the TXT file too.

UF2 Bootloader 0.5.0 lib/nrfx (v2.0.0) lib/tinyusb (0.9.0-22-g7cdeed54) lib/uf2 (heads/master) Model: nice!nano Board-ID: nRF52840-nicenano-v2 SoftDevice: S140 version 6.1.1 Date: Apr 7 2021sweet, so we at least have something in common š okay, so you probably did all of these, but i'll just enumerate incase there's a combination of note. assuming you've got the bare board, it shows, up, bla bla.. problem: when copying/drag drop the
uf2
to the board you get error messages
guessing/thing trying to rule out: cable/connection wackyness
So that's possibly some combo of host PC port and/or cable
on my computer i've got like, a spread of ports on front panel/rear panel and USB 3.0 and 3.1, USB-C and whatever else is there
Same error/result on USB 2 and USB 3 ports i'm guessing?
same error/result on the combination of USB2/3 and shorter/different cables?Hmmmm. I tried a usb a to C cable and usb c to c. I'll try ports on the back of the PC and a couple other cables as well
(also, am assuming this is the stock firmware from typeractive, to remove even more variation)
Correct
i do not claim any of this is sensible but the USB/cable thing is quick and easy to run through all the myriad combinations, i"ve got cables that i end up just tossing into the "power only bucket" as things get flakey.
(i also have a USB-C 3.1 port that absolutely sucks for some reason that i never bothered working out - my USB-C capture card does not like it at all)
OK. Tried 2 different ports and 3 different cables on each port. Same result. Unable to drag and drop lily58_left-nice_view_adapter-nice_view-nice_nano_v2-zmk-055ed1d8b9d076ae239380a9f96912cc.uf2 to the F drive
righto! at least that's consistent. I hate intermittent failures š
The left keyboard works, but the screen in speckled
cause there's connectivity stuff involved and the core thing is not being able to put firmware on, i'd almost want to go back to board-only and no other stuff anywhere in the chain.
As you may guess, i'm a huge fan of trying to make the problem simpler by tossing bits out
Yeah. That all makes sense!
Sorry i'm not finding you any answer, but this is sort of my tech debug process. Running out of voodoo tricks alas.
It's all good. Just kinda weird it's happening to both nice!nanos...
yeah, that kinda makes me want to swap out the PC as well XD
Hmmmmm. I got a macbook. i'll give that a shot
ALL THE HARDWARE!
š
Alright! I was able to move that over and flash the boards without any error. Now... to get the screens to work...
woo! okay, that's a win
