Random Crash: Warning: Remove failed, cannot remove null from inventory

Posting the error log here. It looked like it was having issues with a null object in my inv. Was using Pak Utility no cost on a test build but been doing that on and off for a few days now. Lets see someone more experienced in reading these crash logs may say.

There are a few things to try if your RHI is causing crashes. 1) Try switching your RHI. If you're using DX11 or DX12, switch to the other. If you're using Vulkan, try DX12 before DX11 2) Try verifying your game files. 3) Update/reinstall your graphics drivers 4) Try disabling hierarchal Z-buffer occlusion in the game's graphics settings. 5) Try tuning your graphics card's clock down, especially if has been overclocked (by you or the vendor) For more info, run one of the following bot commands by sending it as a chat message: >dx11 >dx12 >vulkan >verifyepic >verifysteam

Yeah, I don't think that inventory error is related to the crash. RHI died.
[2025.01.19-23.56.18:484][528]LogThreadingWindows: Error: Runnable thread Background Worker #2 crashed.
Could be a system stability issue.

Hmm.. so its my PC and not the game? or the game isn't stable for some reason?

Potentially. The log tail is not immediately conclusive as to the cause of the graphics failure, but it was an RHI crash rather than a game logic fatal. Try the steps Acxd posted first.

1. I don't have any launch options set, so its been using d12. but over 2000 hours in this game and not messing with it.. hmm. 2. done and no issues there. 3. Last update was when the new drivers came out last dec, but reinstalled to be safe. 4. That's never been enabled. 5. I never overclock, good way to turn out a video card and mines a bit old for that anyhoo. GTX 1650

I'll take a closer look at the full log in the morning if no-one else spots anything before then, but honestly, IME background threads offing themselves randomly is one of those things-that-happen occasionally with the overlapping complexities in modern hardware architecture. Many possible causes. If it doesn't become a repeat occurrence, I would be inclined to just chalk it up to the fates. (Also, that 1650 is probably crying out for mercy by now)

My desktop is over 15 years old and has been running strong, I had a 950 in it before but this year I got my roommates handme down 1650. The only thign the upgrade allowed me wqas to play on medium setings instead of low 😛

CSS might bump the minimum when we switch to UE 5.4

I suspect "running strong" might be overselling it a little, but I respect the drive to get as much out of your hardware as possible. I'm not a fan of the pace of current hardware cycles, and the extremely strained attempts to sell relatively minor improvements per generation. [insert "old man yells at clouds" meme]

Geforce GTX 1650, Intel Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz 31.95 GB Ram I've been playing most games well below min specs. I don't expect anything like super high graphics or amazing FPS. so long as its playable it works fine. I got 30fps on my 950 in Update 8. Now I can get 120+ in 1.0 but I still limit it to 60 and I don';t do any high end graphic settings, all is on med aside vfx, clouds, no upscaling, and I only turn lumen on when I want a few pretty screen shops or test if my factory lighting is good for when I share my map.

think it all looks good. But yeah this setup is as good as it gets for me. Plus funds have been stupid tight the last few years so saving for anything better right now is not possible. (literally spent my last $20 on food to try and stretch to the end of the month) so as long as I am still getting good mileage out of this desktop and am maintaining it, cleaning it every month to avoid it looking like a fuzzy animals living in it and such. I think it's doing good for its age.
