I'm going to be really really blunt, consider whether your new hobby is "fashion* or "shopping*.
:bloberm:
It's probably shopping
:linkCoolCry:
I waste a lot of time shopping tbh
I mean same
When you say you’re looking for chunkier shoes, what is your goal with that? And do you have pants in mind to pair with them? I think when buying new shoes it’s important to consider how you want to style them and pant/shoe interaction can make or break a fit with chunkier shoes
I thought for a moment that I was going to be banned :why_dissolve:
For saying that this hobby for me was really shopping.
that can happen
You’re not gonna get banned, to be clear lol
sometimes what motivates us isn't the clothes themselves but the act of purchasing or the notion of having something
if this is something present in other parts of your life (ie you also like shopping for trading cards, or like having lots of songs downloaded) it might be a pattern of behavior to look at
to clarify this is beyond the scope of this discord and way above my pay grade so do not feel you have to answer that
rather than just focusing on chunky shoes, i would focus on silhouette or shapes IN GENERAL, which can include this
check #waywt-highlights or #⭐-2024-top-waywt for some fits you like and do this - https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1255197478312087672/1330295787996975216 - you can add blocks for shoes within the bottom block
imo you should have a foundation a) of what your intention is with buying things and b) of recognizing things you like visually and why you like them
You're not wrong :mood:
6 years ago when I came out of secondary school I was using my free time to browse charity shops.
It was the same thing with vinyl records a couple of years ago, I'd collect them and not use them that much.
Video games too, I've got backlogs of games on multiple platforms.
I want to turn this around though
Instead of it being a shopping hobby I want it to be a fashion one
i had a similar view to you - i thought i enjoyed fashion but mostly enjoyed clothes and moreso having new clothes (there's a lengthy justification for this that we don't need to get into)
what helped me was stepping back, actively deciding not to buy things, but instead seeing what, if anything, i liked about fashion on its own terms (for me it's things like construction and semiotics, for others it may be material choice, or historical context, or function, or specific designsrs, etc)
i realized my knowledge was broad but not deep so made this thread to help with that https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1299343424515739749/1299343424515739749
the best thing you can do if pursuing fashion as a hobby is taking the time to learn about it independent of buying things or of how you look
Thanks. I'll see what I can do to learn more.
