How to block slurs in chat?
I remember seeing a post about that but cant find it anymore, anyone know how I can block chosen words (slurs, really) from being sent or relaying to chat?

idk about mods or plugins for that but honestly just ban the player
there’s some swastika scanner thing too if you wanna use that
detects the symbol
weve had so much trouble finding plugins for this. In the past ive used “Christian chat filter plugin”. It worked well but might not be up to date anymore
alternatively you could figure out some regex stuff, ppl have regex swear lists all over the internet, i just dunno the details of setting it up
Just ban them. These filters are either easy to the around by exchanging a letter for a symbol OR they delete normal messages. These player create toxic communities, no matter if they can say the slurs or not

with a larger server it makes sense to use a filter for formality reasons, and I don't want to discourage it entirely. I'm sorry I don't know that info. after helping run a few large discord servers, though, I absolutely promise a filter won't do anything to actually change or prevent people from making an ugly environment. they just see that and go for different phrasing of the same thing. and will often test it like it's a challenge to see what is banned and how to get around those.
i can't speak for others, but I suspect generally folks around here might not be inclined to help if they think the question is asking for an option to avoid moderating toxic players

If you need all sorts of filtering this seems to do the job
one issue with this is, the user can still Say the slur/word of their choosing. Banning only removes them from making more of the same problem, not removing the issue entirely
Some chat filtering plugins/mods Report when a word is being said, so a automatic ban or mute can be issued to prevent more from happening
like if you try saying the nword here itll report to mods, they see, then you gone
and itll never touch the actual discord as its a banned word

I do ban for slurs and toxicity obviously, but some of you have never heard of trolls who come spam slurs and stuff like that and then it's my job to painfully delete 50 instances of a slur at a time and such things lol
Yeah idk where the whole “you’re not banning for slurs?” Thing comes from. Of course we ban for slurs, we just want to filter them out too so people don’t get ASSAULTED by 50 instances of the N word.
Ideally you have a notification group so your mods see the original word that was filtered, and a spam system set up so the first few repeats of anything start getting blocked
On my server we have a full-suite filtering that notifies staff of the violation, sends the original message through a discord webhook, and we can even create a profile for the player in discord and have all audit logs sent to that channel with one command
