Opinion about Netcup
Hello guys, I want to hear your opinion/experience about Netcup.
netcup is a hosting company, which has very competitive pricing featuring an AMD EPYC 9634 with 8 dedicated cores, 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 512 GB NVMe SSD for just 17€ a month

DDoS protection isn't a huge issue I will be hosting my minecraft server for my buddies not some huge network
it will also have some small stuff like websites i guess
RUN.
Get out of there while you still can.
aka dont use their site. its a scam. they suck
why?
skullians will explain
hold
I’m typing
We used them for our network (2 proxies, 4 backends)
1: TERRIBLE MEMORY MANAGEMENT. We had OOMs all over the place. Never seen anything like it. Moved to a new host, same flags and Java images, never had an issue again.
2. TERRIBLE NETWORKING: constant packet loss, major outages
3. Mediocre ddos protection at best
4. Awful support who do nothing
@Torrent can elaborate on anything I missed
well which server did you buy?
I agree with the fact that the pricing is nice
I’ll check, it was an EPYC with 64gb ram iirc
Root server or?
Yeah
EPYC 9634
I think we had either 2 or 4 tb storage too
where did you move to?
Shitnix
We got the deal of a lifetime
:fred_huh:
what?
so what is Shitnix lol
we can’t say the actual provider name because auto mod blocks it
Rav
nix
put together
oh
why do they block it wt
shitnix gotcha
shitty host
precious drama
precious*
GOD
previous
precious
HUH
IT’S AUTOCORRECTING PREVIOUS TO PRECIOUS
very precious drama tho
LOL
ahh this web design makes me want to use it
All staff quit apart from two, allegations of one of the remaining being 15
and some other crap
good web design is either
really good host
hyper shit host
no one can compete with netcup in pricing can they
which region was this? EU or US
a scam can never be beaten
US
right i heard someone else had that issue in the US region
we only went with shitnix because of the deal
hey maybe EU is fine :DD
:pepecross:
just use hetzner or someone 😭
hetzner is fire
i accept that
too broke
check out the likes of interserver or something too
I mean by all means you can try netcup
using hetzner atm, loading new chunks is horribly slow (unloaded)
but
what cpu you got
this is why we pregen:)
^
yeah doing that rn it just takes a whileee
yuppp
just a survival server for my friends its some shared amd epyc 7002 or sm
ah
why the Epyc's?
might be better off using a shared host then
they are pretty shit for minecraft
well what else
^
you want a cpu with a good single thread
idk a Regular host with like 9900xs?
#marketplace
EPYCs are not designed for that, they’re designed more with multi threading in mind
Same for Xeons
i need something cheap and it cant just be minecraft exclusive i need to host other stuff on it too like nextcloud
what’s your budget
similar price to netcup 16gb ram lol
so 17 euro a month
ye like 20
you could either:
1. use oracle cloud free tier for a free 24gb ARM VPS, then use the rest on a server host: you can get enviromc budget $1/gb with a good cpu in the US
2. Enviromc 16gb for $1/gb, then get a cheap af VPS somewhere else
#1 would save you some money to some degree
#2 would technically use all 20 assuming you could find a $4/month VPS
hell, try azure free or something
crap hardware but will generally be fine for general tasks
or i just preload entire world and take up like 200gb lol
the Entire world as in 30m by 30m?
yea maybe not that
thats at least a few petabytes
nah my hetzner server can handle it dont worry
Just to prove I am not capping I put my money where my mouth is https://www.trustpilot.com/users/6721aca2086ee859a1e2c63a
Damn, way back in the day I nearly went with netcup for my mc server. I ended up going with WitherHosting, talk about the butterfly effect...
Running away from netcup got you a full time job??💀🤣
full time is debatable
