Nether roof causes massively increased GPU usage
When on the nether roof, FPS drops and GPU usage spikes. This is likely due to the lack of culling (as the roof is a massive expanse of bedrock), so the GPU is required to render far more than in other dimensions.

Note that in all of these framerates have been limited to 60
i would leave the basalt deltas to see if the particles are causing issues
same issues occur in warped forest
in case this helps
could this be fixed in later versions? (e.g 2.3RC2)
you have a more recent version than release candidate 2
oh, didn’t notice
I think i’m using nightly actually
would it be worth updating the nightly build?
you could try, but i dont think anything related to GPU usage has been fixed since
your build is only 5 days old
alright
I think the issue has something to do with distant horizons rendering everything within the 512 chunk render distance with basically no culling
due to the flat surface
as soon as I go under nether roof the fps and usage go back to normal
this only occurs above roof
another thing I noticed, when inside builds on nether roof the fps and gpu usage returns to normal
