Is eBay still the go-to?
I've been shopping for a few items (vintage sweaters, denim jackets, etc. - probably not important) but it's a bit overwhelming with all this stuff like eBay, Depop, Grailed, Vinted, Poshmark, TRR etc etc etc. Do most of y'all just main eBay these days? I assume there are exceptions of course. For instance, correct me if I'm wrong, I 'm guessing there are more dupes on eBay than other outlets.

depends on where in the world you are and what sort of style you're buying (to a degree)
I like trr but the server is mostly eBay mains
But yeah depends what you’re looking for
fair enough
I've had ass luck with TRR but I think it's mostly because I wear mostly workwear type stuff
I might just pivot towards ebay if thats what most people here do. Sometimes I check other outlets when I want some more designer-y stuff but usually have poor luck
Oyeah ebays gonna work better for you
what things are you looking for?
while ebay is probably the best site as an aggregate, sites like depop, poshmark, etsy, grailed and proxy services all have their niches which can yield better deals
generally sweaters, loafers mostly right now. All my tops are kind of boring. I've been mostly looking at the PTO sweater eBay search, but I check non ebay sites for some specific brands like storyMFG or fromJP for Kapital
if you don't care about specific brands you can find more interesting vintage knits on both poshmark and depop
maybe 2nd street as well
if it helps, I'm mostly looking for more androgynous/unisex stuff. I probably should have mentioned that too
for loafers ebay is probably your best bet, short of individual communities (styleforum, etc)
never heard of this - will check it out
i made my first buyee purchase after reading this article https://www.themolehill.net/p/how-to-shop-on-japanese-ebay and honestly, not bad
This is a great source
Oh wait it's paywalled :xd: Sorry I must have read it when I was subscribed
But honestly buyee.jp is easy enough to figure out yourself
How does buyee differ from from Japan?
It proxies from japan
wait, what is from japan
I read that wrong
I don't know what from japan is. Idk sorry
I think it’s just a competitor
I used to be into audio and a lot of the time people would proxy stuff using fromjapan rather than buyee. Idk if there was a specific reason
no real reason except preference
you can compare fees but it usually works out to be pretty similar
zenmarket, fromjapan, buyee, neokyo, etc
Yeah all I could find was fromjapan let’s you store stuff for longer, but air mail is slightly cheaper with buyee
yeah
sometimes its cheaper with one if you're into something other than clothing
ex: fragile items that you want to repackage and combine into one shipment
since they'll charge for specialized repackaging
for clothing it doesnt really matter, package consolidation is free and you don't need fancy packaging
I mostly buy vintage fashion (60s-80s mostly) and my go-to is Vinted
But for stuff like vintage Vivienne Westwood or watches (more high-end stuff I guess?) I look on Ebay because they seem to usually have the fairest pricing there
Is there a better aggregator search engine than just google? This looks promising, but I haven’t tried and it is paywalled after a free trial: https://www.shopencore.ai

This is piquing my interest ^
Google sucks ass at finding anything
And the new shopping tab is pretty bad
As a watch nerd, I am shocked there isn’t a good clothing equivalent to WatchPatrol.
Watches might be a little bit easier, but watchpatrol is able to pick up WTB/WTS posts from some pretty obscure forums across several languages in addition to eBay.
There used to be an audio version called devbrada
I mean it did the same thing
I think it just went offline one day
Interesting it went offline. Watch reference #s and model names/nicknames definitely make it a lot easier to set up a simple search function, but clothes are such a big market I figured someone would have figured it out better by now.
