nice!view only partially inserts - both sides
I soldered the connectors for the nice!view into the main board, but when I went to insert the displays, both sides only insert up to this point. I can't seem to get them to go in any further no matter now hard I push or how much I rock them side to side. Both sides have the same issue. I'm not able to see if anything is blocking the sockets. Perhaps while soldering some solder got into the receptacle from below? Not sure if it's possible for solder to get wicked along the pins of the socket and end up blocking the other end where the display pins are supposed to insert.

It's possible solder wicked into the sockets. Try using a solder sucker or wick to remove excess solder from the sockets. Make sure the pins on the nice!view are straight. If that doesn't work, check out our nice!view guide for more help. If you still have issues, reply to this message or tag me for further assistance.

If you have nice!views with your build, this guide will go over installing the sockets and headers. If you don't have nice!views, you can skip this guide.
how tall are the pins? They should be ~4mm iirc (just as a sanity check)
similarly, socket should be ~5mm tall (I think it looks right)
Pins are defs 4mm measuring with my calipers. I have some solder wick, so I might try heating up the pins and then spinning the wick inside to see if I can get anything out. Thank you for the suggestions!
Sounds like you are on the right track, something must have gotten messed up with the solder - ugh
Will update this post when I have a chance to try this just incase it works 🙂 might help someone else in the future. If this is a first, yay me lol
can't say i've had it happen but i'm sure you're not the first
at least you have the wick to try to remedy it
Well wicking didn't work lol I couldnt find a way to get the wick into the top of the connector since it's so thin, and wicking from below didn't help. There was sokder that flowed into the connector though, so at least I confirmed what happened
Don't be like me lol I have to buy another nice view just for the connectors 🫠
oh they should be available separately? Unless you botched the niceview

5-Pin Sockets
These are the same sockets that come with the nice!view. Install them on your other keyboards so you can easily move your nice!view between builds! They're 5mm tall, so adding on the 2mm from the nice!views pin, the nice!view will sit at a height of 7mm. This will allow it to fit snugly atop a socketed nice!nano. 2 soc
I guess the pins aren't but they might be able to help you out or they are likely pretty generic
Nice view itself is fine, but I'll look into just getting the connector since really that's all I need 👍
Thanks for flagging the 5 pin with me very clutch
@Nicell do you mind confirming the dimensions of the insulator and pins on the 5 pin connector for me?
I would order from you, but since I'm in Canada shipping is literally $32 for these lol. I will look to source these locally. I am a fool and messed up one of my 5 pins for the nice view.
we sell just the 5 pin socket
Oh late to the party it wasn't scrolled down
I think it's a 5mm blue, red doesn't really matter, maybe 3mm?
Np np thank you!
@Ayjay want my sockets?
Over in MTL here, so can post you mine, just be prepared for the tender mercies of canada post is all.
Also yep, 5mm
(but yeah, LMK - i can just pop em in an envelope this weekend and post them to you)
That's really kind of you! I'm okay though, I sourced some alternatives from digikey that should work 🙂 if i screw thing up even more I may tap you to take you up on that offer haha
haha, no stress - good luck with it, and know that if push/shove i've got a set of pins/headers here as a backup backup 😄
