Cannot get Baldurs Gate 3 HDR to work
I have attached a video which also shows the arguments I tried at the time with no success. Tried other things but I cannot seem to get HDR to work on my system.
Any ideas how I can get this to work?

you got
-W 2560 -H 1440
, can you also add -w 2560 and -h 1440
in addition? i have had issues with gamescope not working unless i specify all 4I dnt know the difference tbh but will add that on thank you
also make sure you use
--
just before %command%
as shown in the README hereGitHub

i think lower case is for internal resolution, capital case options are for the window size
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 and -h 1440 -f -r 240 --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled --%command
WIll check that documentation in a mo
oops
I left the and
one sec lol
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -f -r 240 --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled --%command
getting theredon't forget closing %
at the end
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -f -r 240 --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled --%command%
awesome ty
looks good, good luck
in case it still doesn't work, try switching -f for -b
crashed sadly
-b is borderless
same thing but that made sense as I have it borderless I think before applying hdr
this is what I used this time
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -b -r 240 --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled --%command%
no dice sadlyoh you need a space at the end
-- %command%
my bad
yay
its okay, i really wish valve did options similar to lutris, where its gui toggles
same. I can do a bit of programming byt syntax to launch a game
is a bit
lol
alright add the option to skip the launcher, after the %command% 🙂
unless you want the launcher
all good booting the game now
will try with -f next time
as I know what that bit means
but I know I can right click at the bottom and do borderless that way too
ur awesome
so the internal resolution ended up being key
nice!
nothing like that is on reddit or anywhere
like if u google
yea its really weird, i just know it from fiddling with it for over a year haha
so that is fairly ace
the good thing now is that I can jsut save the command u gave me and it will work in most cases
yes 🙂
arr poop. SO I tried another game I know supports it and no luck. Dragonball sparking zero. I tried this one
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -f -r 240 --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled -- %command%
and
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -b -r 240 --adaptive-sync --hdr-enabled -- %command%
wondering if ur experience guides u
lol
if nto no worries appreciate the free supporttry it without adaptive sync and/or lowering framerate or completely eliminating the -r option and sticking to 60 fps
ive also found that -r can be finicky
some games are okay, others are not, but also before you do that
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -f -r 60 --hdr-enabled -- %command%
try switching to proton ge first
this one failed
or proton experimental
sometimes hdr requires one or the other
I dnt really need that option either
was just cos that was what sm1 gave me
I dunno what that arg does
-r sets the refresh rate
so -r 240 is if your monitor supports 240hz
I was on this so I will use exp instead as well
oh yes duh I did know. so I can just delete the -r number bit
I guess
ah yeah thats modern enough
in your original post you posted your display settings
i do not see adaptive sync as an option, meaning your display either doesn’t support it, or youre using hdmi
so the —adaptive-sync is a but pointless
it does support gsync and display port connected
dunno if that is the same as my old one was adapt only
ah hmmm wonder why it is not there
dunno maybe cos in hdr mode
hard to say but 100 does
oh its on a second monitor (?)
XG27AQDMG is my main one
with the 240hz
dunno if my 2nd supports it
ah okay, then im confused why KDE options isn’t showing adaptive sync
double checking to ensure not going mad
removed it anyhow
my model basically
anyhow not important
lol
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -w 2560 -h 1440 -f --hdr-enabled -- %command%
sadly the command is crashing it. INteresting regardless to see that this has improved since i Last tried
like bg3 I remembered getting into hdr mode ages back and it would crash and all sorts of dumb shiz
tried some of the things u said before trying as well like f to b etc. I thinkthis one will be a write off
not like I must experience this one now lmaoyeah nested gamescope is unfortunately still a bit of a mess, gamescope-session also can be a bit tricky with hdr but is more stable than nested
I'll try to look at this tomorrow and figure out the non nested stuff
Ty again
I give up with db but the archi wiki is nice https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gamescope in regards to argument info.
ah yea sorry, it has been the case where it does not always work in nested mode, i remember someone posting a script on the #🎮bazzite chat a long time ago for booting into gamescope-session, but other than that, i tend to stick with the bazzite-deck images to do HDR myself
no worries all good
it is going to get better anyway
imo it makes sense to not help people till it actually works. I mean when it is somethign complicated where the troubleshooting requires real indepth knowledge
