How does this corduroy suit fit me?
I've been wanting a nice dark brown corduroy suit for a while, and this one came up at a good discount in the sales.
I went for an L instead of my usual M, because I've noticed my suits in my regular size are getting a bit tight around the waist in the last few years as I get closer to 50.
Obviously the sleeves and trousers need shortening, as is always the case when I go L. Apart from that, is there anything else that a decent alterations tailor won't be able to sort out in order to get this fitting me nicely? The shoulders seem ok, which is usually the main thing with a suit, I find!

is that a full suit? the jacket and pant appear to be different imo
it seems like the jacket might be snug from how it's pulling at the chest, though a side shot would help determine that and any other issues
Yeah, the jacket is a little snug around my stomach which is probably pulling it tight at my chest, but that's really unavoidable with an off-the-peg suit when you have a beer belly, as I undeniably do at the moment! Going up a size would make the jacket too large across my shoulders. Will get a side shot!
Not the best fit in my opinion, apart from the shortening to be made: button stance is too high, and worsen overall proportions (jacket and torso result short and boxier that what they probably are).
The button on point on that jacket seems really high to me
I feel like a good rule of thumb is avoid any suit that is sized by letter sizes and not numbers. Button stance is completely insane. Def looks like it’s uncomfortable when buttoned.
I’ll echo @zeometer ‘s q as well: are these actual separates designed to be worn together? Or are these two different fabrics that you’ve cobbled into a suit? It could be the lighting but the pants seem to be a drastically different design and color to the jacket.
