Are my new shoes defective?
I just received a pair of Solovair loafers as a Christmas gift. They look great but, as you can see from the photo, the sole of the shoe on the left is crooked. It does not lay flat. I have not worn them much, but they feel fine. However, I do notice that my left foot can either lay on the front or back of the shoe. It's almost like sitting in a chair with one slightly shorter leg.
I do not know enough about footwear construction to tell if this is a serious problem. Will a bit of wear just even out the soles? Is this something you would get a return over?

if your shoe is lopsided, then yes, I'd call that a defect
get them replaced/refunded
Solovair customer service will absolutely tell you what to do, a replacement is likely.
