domain transfer without nameserver update

I have 2 .co domains with godaddy and it won't let me update the NS first because they are expired, only by 4 days, is there a way to transfer without this?

No. Domains must be in good standing before any transfer is allowed.

Correct, that would put it into good standing, then you can manage it.

you cant transfer an expired domain you have no choice but to pay godaddy or let the domain expire next time do the transfer before the domain expires the NS doesnt have anything to do with it, you cant even transfer an expired domain to a registrar that doesnt have the NS requirement because you just cant transfer an expired domain

There's a reason. There's a difference in a renewal price and a recovery fee or whatever it's called for renewing during grace periods. I've also seen GoDaddy do weird things when you have things in addition to a domain that has expired it's 'contract' period. A client of mine had like their web developer tool, hosting, email, domain, etc. They assumed they could just let the developer tool expire, and eventually move things out. Nope, it was a whole thing.. lol
