Tryna build a NAS on a budget
Recommend me stuff. Tryna keep it under $150. What can I grab?
I got PC setup already. I want the Nas to be connectable via USB to any machine. So like a drive cage + USB connection.

Damn
thats not necessarily a NAS then, thats just a external hdd or storage
Welp
If that's what it is, that's what it is 😂
What would qualify as a NAS then? Independence?
Network Attached Storage
remote storage thats what nas is
if you want usb storage and you want fast read and write then you can go for a m.2 enclosure and like 4tb m.2
but if you want large storage you can buy from WD or other places that sell large storage on hand. amazon is pretty good for that place
Tbh that looks like a decent deal, pls link

I'm tryna go for mass storage with decently fast drives
The fastest read and write I'll need is about 50mb/s
Which is really slow.
ah ur fine then
if you need random read/writes, then you may want to look at something like this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Enclosure-Dissipation-External-Drive-Free/dp/B09T8P9LKQ
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-Plus-PCIe-Gen4-Internal/dp/B0BYW8FLKN
My use case is mass file storage and media server
the one I linked should be able to hit the limit of USB 3.2, which is like 1GB/s
Damn alr
Is it under the budget of $150?
should be
Yes it is
Sure I can grab that ssd, but I don't have a place to put it
although it would be only 2TB of SSD based storage vs 8TB of HDD storage
I'd prefer some kinda drive cage
check the other link
Oh alr
