Best hosting for small group of friends?
Hello there! I am looking for the best cost-effective hosting to create a server for 5 people (some will play more than the other, but it isn't a full load 24-hour server). It's exclusively for personal use and I think we will play with mods (not more than 10 mods, I suppose). I am already a sysadmin, so I know Linux and how to manage a non-minecraft server (and I am willing to learn if I don't know how to do something).
I know that usually the best answer to these are the Oracle Cloud Always-Free servers or self-hosting, but at the moment, I can't self-host anything and I used to have a Oracle Cloud account, but I can access no longer; and it takes a lot of time to be able to create a free server, because it always kick me out (and we want to play asap).
I was looking to create an AWS server or Azure, but I don't know if another options are more affordable (or better in general). It can be a non-professional option, these are only some ideas I have.

Budget: Max 15$, but the less, the better :)
so are you looking for a game server or a vps?
🤔 game servers have faster speeds as it's not with virtualization, vps require more setup and yea slower speeds
and have higher overhead

Game servers are cheaper, allow quick setup and have basic management
You don't have all the controls of a VPS but its faster and cheaper especially when doing a single game server.
For a VPS you have to setup and manage everything yourself, it's the same as the oracle cloud always free servers basically. These are usually expensive and require more work.
There are some other differences but I think in your case you'll want to look at bloom, lilypad, or servcity (there are probably a few other good ones, but I can't think of them atm).
Lilypad recommends their 4gb plan for less than 10 mods less than 10 players and thats $11 a month. Others can jump on their recommendations but I would imagine that would work for you.
