Cashmere pockets?
Figured this could be a good place to ask. I’m planning out sewing a replica of a jacket my gf really likes, but in a loro piana double face cashmere (original is polyester coating). I figure we are likely going to have enough excess that we could use the shell cashmere fabric for the pockets, but am a bit worried about how that would hold up durability wise? Do cashmere lined pockets exist for jackets? I know cashmere lined gloves exist, but am looking to see if anyone else here has some experience

Usually no because cashmere is delicate and prone to stretching out
It works with gloves because it’s encased in the leather so it doesn’t stretch out. So if you wanted cashmere, you might try making the pocket out of something durable and lining it with cashmere
Fleece lined pockets are more common, if you wanted to consider other warm pocket options
Yeah I forgot to mention but yeah I would line the pocket rather than just using straight cashmere
Probably use the rayon lining as the external pocketing fabric to prevent stretching
Do you put keys and stuff in pockets? Another concern could be things snagging on the fabric

My only other concern is that the shell fabric is relatively thick and so worried if it would affect the drape or somehow the outline would show on the outside
But the jacket itself is a very oversized loose fit

Planning to cut apart original jacket to get the pattern pieces then reassemble it to make sure I know how to do it correctly
Could add some of this other wool coating I have to the pockets then in order to see if there’s a problem with the drape or outline

You’ll likely want to line the pockets to keep it from stretching and wearing too much depending on the jacket style

Ah yeah I’d use a different material for the pocket bags themselves if I’ve understood the thread correctly
Well right now I’m thinking I will essentially make the pockets two layers with the interior being the cashmere and the outside the rayon lining
So the bags I guess are multilayered
