Mr

Whos the go to for OCBDs?

I bought a bunch of brooks brothers shirts, I'm between sizes but I opted for the medium and it was good, but one of the shirts shrunk and it's uncomfortable to wear now, so I'm thinking about other options I hand wash, hang dry everything

Kamakura, Spier and Mackay, Proper Cloth, and Luxire are all frequent recs for MtO. Rtw I’d look at O’Connell’s, the Brooks bros MiUSA line, J Press, Drakes, or Mercer & Sons. Generally shirts will shrink a touch when washing, so it’s suggested to size up ever so slightly with that in mind.

I got some nice ones from proper cloth. My favorite is one in this hemp blend fabric that’s a bit rougher to the touch, but cooler in the summer months

It sucks because the other shirts I got (all same size) made it after a wash or two and still fit me good But this one shirt randomly is way tighter and is suffocating

if you're okay with secondhand the brands jarmul mentioned, along with vintage polo ralph lauren, j.crew, ll bean and lands end as a heads up many of these use neck-sleeve measurements (15/33) instead of alpha sizing (S, M, etc); check a size chart or YouTube on how to measure if need be

yeah i think i have a fat neck or something, i'm a 17.5 in neck which is XL, i have a 41 in chest which is like a M, i have a 37in waist which is like an L i think it's time for me to consider MTO

i've seen plenty of 17.5 and 18" neck shirts in the wild - brooks, ll bean, j.press i think

no i know they exist but at 17.5 in neck, the sleeves are too long, and the garment in general is too large for me because im so mismatched lol

sleeves and waists of shirts can be altered by a tailor for less than the cost of MTM

I'm basically in the same situation down a size. I can find 16.5's that fit (quite loosely), however all but a few are just a bit too tight in the neck for a tie. 17's though mostly have uncomfortably large armholes and that's not fixable through alteration.
