Games with a non steam launcher cannot launch?
Lunching GTA V, Cyberpunk, Titanfall, or any game with a launcher will compile shaders, lanch the launcher, and then either say "error try reinstalling the game (this does not work) or the game with just not lunch after the launcher pops up.
games without a third party launcher, (God of war, terraria, Minecraft, stardew) all launch and perform no issue.
anyone have any ideas?

I was just able to run Warframe out of the box, which uses its own launcher
Gta, titanfall, or cyberpunk running by chance?
Alas, I don't have those games installed.
No worries, thanks
I'll try Stellaris, that one uses a Paradox launcher
Just had issue with risk of rain 2, i dont think that one has a launcher.
SUPERHOT launched no issue (thank god)
I would be surprised if SUPERHOT doesn't run on Linux natively. It has that vibe
I think its using proton just fine?
Cult of the lamb launched no issue too, emulators are fine, n64 decomps too....
No proton it looks like
Sick
Some games you can just tell the devs are all linux geeks
It definitely has that vibe.
It all started before i changed my thermal paste, these same games (gta, cyberpunk, fallout NV) would overheat and force a shutdown, so i changed thermal paste in the computer, now the thermals work fine on the games i can launch (new vegas launches fine now) but the others cant get past their dedicated launchers.
Im puzzled.
Im a bit too tied to reinstall steam tonight, but thats probably my next thing to try, then maybe a full bazzite re-install?
If increasing the performance of the games leads to a problem, My thinking is race condition.
Or maybe all those overheating shutdowns corrupted the files
Have you tried verifying the games?
Yup
I'm watching a video on how Proton works. It says for 3rd party launchers, Steam needs to use Proton to run the launchers, which are Windows applications, on Linux. Might be relevant
Changing proton versions have gotten me further for GTA, but it still errors out the same way
New error: rockstar games launcher displays: "cannont verify steam is running", trying different proton builds
Stellaris gets to the main menu no problems, but it's also Linux native
Its definitely proton, i got V to launch with an older build, gonna try cyberpunk now
Ok, closing this out now, it just took a few specific versions of proton per game, and it just so happened not to be the first four i tried lmao, thank you Vi-!
-also V
