C:\ cloning to new NVME did not go as expected.
So yeah I got my new ram and nvme today. The ram part went quite well with no issues. Too bad I can't say the same about the NVME. So, my intention was to clone my small 120GB C and make the 1TB nvme a "new C" and booting drive. Now, I used the software called "Macrium Reflect". I followed all the steps based on a YT tutorial, the cloning did happen HOWEVER, instead of having one new drive instead, I ended up having two cloned partitions. Meanwhile the so called H, was suppose to be the NVME. As you can see, it doesn't show 930GB but rather 118 (same as C). All types of help are welcome, if you have experienced something like this before and you have some type of solution to suggest.

You need to use the same software (or another partition manager) to expand that partition to fill the full drive
The step you did was clone your existing drive (and its partitions) which is that same size. Now you have to expand the main NTFS partition to fill the empty space
Sadly the tutorial was not that specialized. Do you happen to know another tutorial that, shows that step by step?
i would just be googling "how to expand parition macrium reflect" the same as you lol
Yeah I just did
GG @Palmaurian, you just advanced to level 13 !
🙂
Mixed messages I receive out of it 😄
I suspect that I have to format the nvme (total clean up of the previous info) and redo it again
There was a clone and extend option. You needed to readjust that at clone.
But yes reformat and do it again
Make sure you have 3 partitions on the system drive as you clone.
for some reason the same partition is xloned twice on the same drive
But alright giving it a try now, thanks.
Show the original drive and partitions
this is the nvme
when given the option to select the partitons it shouldnt have gave nvme partiton 1. it should have been a carbon copy with any free space given afterwards on the right
whats partition 4 though? why is it 600mb recovery files maybe?
yes
okay what you should do is manually select partitions 1-3. Then extend partition 3 up to 626mb or above free then add in partiton 4
or rather 700mb cuz thats what they have
sadly no such options pops
your clicking the wrong option. click clone this disk
and that window pops up
oh you talking about after I format the nvme
Gotcha
well yeah you are redoing the process
for some reason the partitions are still there from previously
you either delete it in disk management or use another partiton wizard to do so
you have to delete it somehow
yes, you are right, working on it as we speak
🙏
deleted 1 the other two won't come up with an option
Also when I tried to clone the drive at the beginning a messaged poped abour permissions
and that I do not have access
Its fine that will get fixed when the clone happens/deleted
oh alright
this partition has remained, it refuses to go, I presume it will dissapear when I do the recloning?
so as before
erase disk or delete partition?
Delete partition. Erase will just delete all those partitions again
Right, I did.
So this time no errors during the cloning but
The nvme shows only as 118 GB, as big as the C not 830+GB
and same deal again
Again you misread my directions you see how you have 812gb free? You needed to extend that on the partition 3 before dragging partition 4 down.
Yes, indeed. I downloaded Minitool Wizard and fixed it.
Now it works like a charm! Thanks for your time and help!
Your welcome.
Ty guys again
