Sega Model2 emulator crashes in gaming mode, works flawlessly in desktop mode
As per the title, when launching the model2 emulator (EMULATOR.EXE) within game mode, i get the following error:
'ERROR: ld.so: object '/var/home/ally/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.'
by going afterwards into desktop mode and checking the model2 emulator log.
The emulator launches perfectly in desktop mode, also works perfectly with no issues.

i get that same error message, but everything still works for me, might be steam garbage, not sure. Do you have decky loader? sometimes plugins get in the way
Yes, it is installed. I guess i'll try to remove it and try again, might be something to do with it?
it could, there might also be other things you could try, proton ge 7-49 has worked for me in some instances where games fail to run in gamemode exclusively
Yeah that error message is totally normal
It's not a crash or anything of the sort
You might want to post the full log so we can figure out what is going on here
So wiping out decky loader didn't chnage anything, still get the same log entries (this is the full log from model2 BTW):
ERROR: ld.so: object '/var/home/namco/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/home/namco/Emulation/roms/model2/pfx//dosdevices/c:/drive_c': File exists
And now i removed the drive_c symlink since it is complaining "it already exists", it creates it again and no longer complains but it still doesn't run and complains about the gameoverlayrenderer in the loig.
It runs in desktop mode from /Emulation/tools/launchers/model-2-emulator.sh
This is on an ROG Ally X btw
did you create your own custom prefix?
/home/namco/Emulation/roms/model2/pfx//dosdevices/c:/drive_c'
is not a standard non-steam game path for prefix
what launch options are you using? and if we can get a full log like Kyle recommends that might tell us more
