CAN I USE VALORANT'S IP IN MY THUMBNAILS?
I have tried contacting the suppot through valorant's ticket service but they are referring me again and again to the Jibber Jabber Policy.
That policy according to my knowledge is for streamers or youtubers .
Now they themselves never design thumbnails(atleast major of them). They hire people like me.
So my question is, is this allowed or no? Like is it legal?
I know everyone is doing this but this doesn't mean it's legal or not breaking their policy.

If it was illegal, riot would’ve taken action against them. I don’t think there’s any copyright on the agent fan arts.
then why they are not even giving permission? I mean I have asked them multiple times "I am not here for the legal advice but for taking permission" And again the answer is Jibber Jabbar Policy or "I don't have permission to answer legal questions" And when I am asking them to connect me to someone who has the authority of answering questiosn like this they ignore that message
This basically answers your question?
isn't it for api users?
It's referring to commercial projects when it says that?
Hence the "and"
I don't understand what youre confused about, This has to be the most simplest "Yes you can".
No but if you clearly read this it's again for the streamer who is using that thumbnail. In my case there are 2 people
1. Me as a thumbnail artist
2. Youtuber as a non commercial user
I am using it for commercial use isn't it ?
"You may not create commercial Projects, including any Project that crowdsources any portion of its funding, any Project that involves a business or legal entity, or any Project where you gate the content with a paywall (e.g., Patreon, YouTube Premium, etc.) without a written license agreement from us. "
Hes trying to sell the contents
Correct let me give you an example
Just like this
It's not mine
So you mean selling the thumbnails to people and those thumbnails inclute valorant IP?
Correct
"Selling thumbnails to streamers"
What did you write in your ticket exactly
Did you tell them you are trying to sell valorant based thumbnails?
Dear Riot Games, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Ahmed Irfan, and I am a freelancer specializing in creating gaming thumbnails for clients. Many of my thumbnails involve your game, and I often use in-game assets (such as characters, abilities, or other elements) as per the client’s requirements. I want to ensure that I am in compliance with your policies. Could you please confirm if using your game assets in this way is permitted? If any specific guidelines or restrictions apply, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share them with me. Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your guidance. Best regards, Ahmed Irfan
I'm quite sure that extra step of you making it for a streamer is irrelevant legally, It only depends on the streamer and what they do with the thumbnail, aka for videos and fair use. legally speaking you're sort of selling art asked to you from a client with no legal ownership or responsibillity, I'm not a lawyer, but yes you can.
there latest email tells me that is included in the gray area
Another quick Q, these contents you make, do you draw/make them your self? Or do you find vids online and then edit them
For legal reasons, They most likely have to keep it in a gray area.
either way, i don't understand your issue because riot most likely does not care even the slightest.
So as long as they don’t reach out to you saying, hey you need to stop making these thumbnails, ig you area good to go
No I don't draw then rather I don't take them from streamers. Sometimes I am using them from the official wallpapers or content (valorant has uploaded on their website ) and sometimes I take screenshot from valorant's instagram page (of guns which I don't have )
Yeah I know they don't care but due to some reasons I just don't want to break any kind of poliy
I got 3-4 orders and they are pending someone just told me it's better to take permission rather than doing all of this without their permission.
Because even if all of them are doing doesnt make things legal
