Jean and jacket fit
Fit check? This is NOT an outfit.. just checking the fit of jacket and the jeans. Shirt is wrinkled I know

The jacket is a bit tight to button
But I likely won’t button it ever
Jacket looks too tight
It is
I already own it though and don’t plan to button it
I sent that before I saw the buttoned photo fwiw
There are other signs that it is too tight like the way the shoulders are puckering
Really? Why do you think too tight then
My hands aren’t really at my sides for some reason
So maybe that’s why? It feels like it fits ok to me
In the shoulders
Also you are only wearing a t shirt underneath
Yes this is true
So if you ever wear a sweater or layers it'll only get worse
My two cents at least. It you like the fit, you can keep wearing it of course and it's not totally egregious
I just found it in my dad’s closet tbh.. doesn’t fit him but it’s a nice coat I think
I can throw a sweater on and take a pic
Jeans seem fine to me but would be easier to tell if you tucked in the shirt and took photos of front and side. There's just not much to go off of from the photos you shared. Do you have any concerns with them?
I think they fit too billowy?
In the waist or through the legs?
jeans look good, jacket is too small as rawbert said
Here’s with a sweatshirt under
Yes, still looks too small
Jeans tucked
Jeans look fine to me
When you say too they are too billowy, what do you mean?
Different jacket?
They seem to fit loose is all
In the crotch a lot
It's okay for clothes to have some room to breathe
Some people prefer it that way, and honestly a lot of folks are wearing much wider pants than those these days
Those are sort of a regular tapered fit. I wouldn't personally go any slimmer but that's totally your call on what your preferred fit is
True
I need a belt or they fall off tho
So makes em seem too big
What about the bomber?
Maybe you'd prefer something with a higher rise? I almost always wear belts though and don't think that's such a bad thing
Bomber is harder to tell, what does it look like zipped?
It looks a bit slim but the waistband on those are elastic so there's a bit more flexibility than a wool coat
It’s tight zipped
How do you want your clothes to fit?
To me if you think it might be too tight, that might be your answer. Right?
I am asking this ^ 100% genuinely - I want to help but I also sense that maybe you know the answer to some of these questions?
I don’t want them to be too tight
I bought these a few years ago and they don’t fit anymore.. in the shoulders?
Which is weird
I am just frustrated because none of my clothes fit :xd:
My body changed a good bit over the last year and 80% of my shirts didn't fit me right anymore. On some level I definitely get it and it is frustrating
This is definitely more of a problem with clothes that are cut to be slim fitting and close to the body. With clothes that are meant to have some room, they are a lot more forgiving to changes in your body
Don't have a great answer for you otherwise except to take the journey of finding the clothes/styles you like slowly and be kind to yourself
Yeah it’s definitely a money thing too
But I’ll try to shop sales and stuff
just cosigning what rawbert mentioned, the first longer jacket looks too small but it's less immediately obvious when unbuttoned so would be generally fine that way, jeans look very much okay. IMO the waist is the less important size to have a good fit on than length. It takes a few sizes for the waist being too big to show in a meaningful way when using a belt, but the differences in inseam length are immediately visible. and fwiw, those jeans look like the length is just fine, good for rolling up the cuff. the bomber jacket does look pretty small at the waist and I'd personally dodge using it even unzipped because the zippers end up angled due to the size. but that's just me.
can relate to clothes not fitting, I've been losing weight which is in general a cool thing but it means I have to rebuy or tailor clothes all the same as if I were going in the opposite direction. it's a hassle.
well, too big at the waist is easier to work with, not much to do about too small at the waist, but seems like that's not the case for your jeans from what you say.
thank you haha
problem here is apparantly bodies dont stop growing in the 20s..
my shoulders have gone from a 17 when i was like 22 to a 20+ now that im 30
chest also went from a 38 to a 46..
I did gain a little weight too but not that much to account for that lol
yep, the hassle never ends
lol damn
I envy people who have standard bodies that dont change much
I also have a very long torso and wide shoulders.. but short arms
so NO dress shirts or suits fit me off the shelf
and I cant buy a S because it wont fit at all
I think im a 17.5 in dress shirts
Many brands will do neck x sleeve sizing
Yeah some places have options but it costs more
i like to get dress shirts from charles tyrwitt
ebay
i think they offer that
yeah Im learning to shop ebay a bit
still looking for that suit there..
running out of time tho
to some extent this could be your perception of the fits too, I mean you were talking about how the pants felt too big, but they generally (IMO) look just fine. not that I want to negate how you feel about the fits with "it's all in your head" haha, I just know when I was recently starting to buy more blazers that I felt very anxious about them fitting me too small, but it turns out I was in part focusing way too much on the wrong things when judging the fit.
just something to keep in mind too
well i think in my brain it doesnt fit because it feels saggy in the front and back and i need a belt to hold it up
so maybe I could go one size down
reason i got this size is.. when out of wash or new..,. they barely fit
but they stretch
pretty quickly
and then get too loose
gotcha, yeah hard to balance this stuff. anyway the big thing there is just don't feel bad about using belts when needed, they're cool anyway. Like separately also good of course to get some slightly better fitting pants, but just committing to belts when needed will enable you to wear the pants you already have.
well yeah ive had these a year or so lol
I should get some cool belts
and some basic tee shirts that arent that althrltic material
hell yeah get em
any suggestions?
'i have a nice dress belt from meermin
belts I don't have anything in particular, I got mine from a local shop and didn't really check the brand. tees I think people like uniqlo for more budget stuff, I got a bunch of my stuff from Homage a couple years ago because of an old MFA reddit thread, they're nice but pricey and probably I could've bought cheaper for just some tee shirts.
this would be another instance where if you can figure out a budget and some inspo pics a new thread for this purpose would serve you well. I also like to dig through past threads too to see if I can find anything without needing to make a new one.
I bet there's already been a ton of t-shirt recommendation threads you could reference
also just curious what u think of this
and if i can get away with a L lenght jacket if this is an R
would be an inch longer
sleeves i had fixed
I am def not an expert on blazer sizing but if you ask me this is already long enough, if anything arguably it could be shorter (although I think this is personal taste). If you want some good reference pics of lenght there's def some frequent blazer/sport coat posters in #waywt
one example from just today:
if you're looking for something longer you probably are looking for something more akin to an overcoat
yeah appears it should go to the crotch area?
like right at the seam
yeah L wont work i see it
will of course depend on body type there, some people got them long legs. but at the very least I think when you start having the length go past the "half way point" of your height you start getting more into overcoat territory.
I also cant tell what is black LOL
and the exact length is, of course, up to personal taste.
yeah Its a suit.. i dont want it to be overcoat
ye
my legs are short so
it appears weird
but if you're asking if it looks bad, it doesn't, it's fine. if you gotta wear it in the short term you'll be just fine.
oh im trying to size another suit off it
gotcha
but yeah im wearing that this weekend too
i like that suit
wool flannel
the best part about thinking about fashion more for me is just getting real excited about clothes I own, much more fun and interesting than just wearing clothes cuz they're clothes.
yeah that is fun about it 🙂
