Has anyone gone through the process of migrating from influxdb v1.8 to v2.x? I've got a lot of data in the existing V1.8 database that I would like to bring forward into 2.x. This page looks promising, (https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb/v2/install/upgrade/v1-to-v2/automatic-upgrade/) but I wonder if anyone here has actually done it and what issues they may have run into.

Before you initiate in place upgrade I recommend exporting all the data to Influx line protocol format

To migrate data from a TSM-powered InfluxDB 1.x (OSS or Enterprise) to an InfluxDB Cloud Serverless organization, export the data as line protocol and write the exported data to an bucket in your InfluxDB Cloud Serverless organization.

This way you have a standalone copy of your data in a format that can be imported anywhere (with a bit of processing) Mind that line protocol is very verbose and the resulting files large, but compress very well I assume you are talking about a local vessel, personal database and you don’t need to migrate lots of users etc I backup my 2.x data also by exporting as line protocol and set up a periodic export job for S/v Lumi for backups
