M.2 PCIe NVMe Brand outside of the tested list
Just wanted to ask as long as my motherboard has a M.2 PCIe NVMe slot, does it matter if I use a product outside of the recommended and tested list of the manufacturer? Thanks kindly.

Doesn’t matter, those are just the ones 100% validated by the manufacturer
I wanted to make an upgrade for a long time now, but I won't pay the Samsung premium. I found a couple of models on a good price. Are you interested on having a look?
Just to see if you approve or not.
Samsung has been riding their name recognition for the last two gens, they're not worth the premium imo. Kingston, Crucial, Sabrent, WD_Black, SK Hynix all good (but it's really hard to find a bad Gen 4 NVMe, so anything in your budget for the capacity will be fine). I've only had failures from Samsung (970 Evo) and Silicon Power out of dozens of M.2 drives since 2018 or so.
About that
Seems like Gigabyte
has an outdated list in NVME
I just got in their site and the NVME I am aiming, might not be in the PDF, but Crucial claims it is compatible

Crucial P3 1TB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD
found it for 78 Euros here, while the equivalent samsung 980 Pro is 140 euros
🤯
Literally 50% up premium
that's the one I am aiming at
Crucial P3 1TB PCIe Gen3 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 3500MB/s - CT1...
Basic bootup speeds won’t cut it — not at work, on the go, or in the game. But the Crucial P3 SSD is anything but basic. With NVMe performance that’s nearly 5x faster than SATA and nearly 20x faster than HDD2, the P3 leaves older storage technology in the dust. With sequential read/write speeds u...
You can put Gen 4 drives into a Gen 3 slot like yours, it'll just run at the speed your slot supports
might be cheaper to get gen 4, since gen 3 isn't really being made anymore
Crucial P3 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 5000MB/s ...
Valuable Gen4 performance is here. Introducing the Crucial P3 Plus Gen4 NVMe SSD, delivering impressive speed with sequential reads/writes up to 5000/4200MB/s. Including dynamic write acceleration and adaptive thermal protection to keep your data safe while enhancing system reliability, the P3 Pl...
Realistically you shouldn't worry about what the motherboard company says about supported drives - if it's the same physical and electrical connection it'll work
Only things you should be checking for compatibility on a mobo page are CPU's / APU's (which is based on BIOS updates) and memory support (where they do list a non-comprehensive QVL list of RAM configs)
Thank you.
RAM was the next thing to ask. Do I have to follow it by letter?
Sadly many of the stuff they recommend on the list are either difficult to find or not produced anymore. Talking about 2666HZ
DDR4
at that speed, you don't have to worry as much (plus the recommended list on the mobo page is out of date)
you could probably go 3200mhz without issues
might be cheaper to find too
good point
I am just a lil reluctant because for the 9700k intel suggests up to 2666
It is true that I have found some very decent 3200mhz in terms of price
