any reason as to why its crashing?
Few issues.
1. You seem to be running a Forge instance. The Iris version that you downloaded is for NeoForge, not Forge.
2. You have Oculus installed as well. Both Iris and Oculus are mutually exclusive. You install one over the other.
3. Iris does not support Embeddium. Iris requires using Sodium.
4. Any issues regarding Embeddium and Oculus are to be brought towards their respective teams.
ah, was hoping to use distant horizons + shaders in my modpack, so would I use iris and sodium?
and if so what would be the best versions to use for 1.20.1?
If you're going Forge, you ain't getting Iris woring at all. All versions of Iris for Forge have been pulled due to unfixable issues.
Most notably crashing with many mods.

You have to ask the Oculus team for that unfortunately.
