Nice!Nano partially working
Hi I purchased a Nice!Nano a few weeks back for the right side of my 5-col Corne. The 1st row and thumb keys work, but the 2nd and 3rd row do not. When I turn on the Nice views, it shows small dots then goes blank. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- I followed this guide (https://docs.typeractive.xyz/troubleshooting/rows-columns-not-working) and checked for shorts and found none.
- I used a known working Nice!Nano (from my other Corne), and all 2nd and 3rd row keys, and the Nice View work.
- Checking the pins P1.00 and P0.24 based on this pin guide (https://docs.typeractive.xyz/build-guides/corne-wireless/troubleshooting), and they look like they’re adequately soldered.
Need some help solving this issue. Thanks!

It sounds like you've done a thorough job troubleshooting your Nice!Nano and the issues with your Corne keyboard. Since you've confirmed that the 2nd and 3rd row keys work with a known good Nice!Nano and that the solder joints appear adequate, the problem may lie in the Nice!Nano itself or its connection to the PCB.
Here are a few additional steps you can take to further diagnose the issue:
1. Inspect the Nice!Nano: Look closely at the Nice!Nano for any visible damage or defects, especially around the pins and solder joints. Sometimes, a small crack or defect can cause intermittent issues.
2. Reflow Solder Joints: Even if the solder joints look good, it might be worth reflowing the solder on the pins connected to the 2nd and 3rd rows. This can help ensure a solid connection.
3. Check for Cold Solder Joints: Sometimes, solder joints can appear fine but may not be making a good connection. Reheating the solder can help.
4. Test with a Multimeter: If you have access to a multimeter, you can check continuity between the Nice!Nano pins and the corresponding traces on the PCB to ensure there are no breaks in the connection.
5. Firmware Issues: Ensure that the firmware on the Nice!Nano is up to date and correctly configured for your keyboard layout. If you haven't already, try flashing the firmware again.
6. Try a Different Nice!Nano: Since you have another Nice!Nano that works, you might want to try using it in the problematic side again to confirm that the issue is indeed with the original Nice!Nano.
If you've gone through these steps and the issue persists, it may be necessary to consider replacing the Nice!Nano. If you need further assistance, please refer to the troubleshooting documentation for more detailed guidance.
@ber2 what temp did you solder at?
sounds like the nano very much might be bad though 😦
