Denim jacket recommendations
Hello all.
I'm in the market for a boxy indigo denim jacket (or chore/similar). I don't wear much denim at all so I'm pretty ignorant of it in general.
I would like to wear it mostly year round, and in this Irish weather it's never too hot or too cold so a medium (if that's how it's described?) weight may be ideal. Not opposed to second hand either. I'll probably mostly wear it with green/white/cream/brown trousers. Also, acknowledge it may be a ridiculous ask, but I would prefer it not to have too prominent white stitching.
I've no particular inspo pics to post unfortunately.
Location: Ireland/UK. Budget: ~400

In terms of which type of jacket that will probably come down to which you think looks best or if you have a preference for pockets. I'll share some photos of the three main types to see what you prefer
Type 1, has only one pocket on the front. Usually has a cinch buckle on the back as well. Quite cropped and boxy in terms of fit

Type 2, usually only two pockets on the front chest (common to find modified type 2's that have handwarmer pockets also). Usually the longest cut of denim jacket

Type 3, is the most famous probably with the v shaped pattern on the front. Commonly called a trucker jacket as well. A bit shorter in body length than a type 2 but longer than a type 1

Going by the above, I would prefer the boxier fit of the type 1 but the longer length of the type 2.
Type 3 is out as that V pattern is not my thing.
Any particular brands that makes a number of different denim jackets/chore/work/coveralls? I acknowledge these may be just generic terms, so may be hard to pinpoint a specific type I'm after.
Olderbest has a variety of vintage inspired ones with a cropped/boxy fit: https://www.olderbest.com/collections/denim-jackets
Might be useful for pinpointing a style, even if you're eventually looking for something higher-end
Orslow might be a good brand to look at, I know they make a number of different denim jackets
Thanks both.
Some nice, more affordable options on Olderbest. Maybe I don't need to jump head first into the more high-end options.
Although, these Orslow ones do look pretty sweet.
Is this it? Is this how the denim obsession starts?
Also leaning towards a style more akin to the Orslow Coverall as opposed to type 1/2/3
I have a jacket from olderbest, I'd say very good stuff for the price
Definitely you're going down the rabbit hole now though
yeah. the models soup shared are all trucker jackets. the orslow coverall would be a chore coat, which is not neccessarily a denim jacket but is often produced in denim.
I see that now. That's the beauty of Q&A I guess, to help with my ignorance.
I missed the chore coat part as well! Le Mont St Michel might be exactly what you're looking for in that case: https://lemontsaintmichel.fr/en/work-jacket/1913-work-jacket/configurator/valmon-denim-work-jacket/
Le Mont Saint Michel
Valmon - Denim work jacket | Le Mont Saint Michel
A timeless classic! "Vêtements le Mont St Michel, 3 fois plus d'usage": that's the old advert we've silk-screened inside this work jacket. For a more summery style, we made it in a light "stone washed" denim that gives it a slight patina, just like in the old days.
Them and Le Laboreur are the classic chore coats though I don't see a denim one from the latter at the moment
(Could size up 1 size and cuff the sleeves if needed, to get your desired boxier fit)
Some good options in the chore coat direction from fleurs de bagne as well, none of them are denim but the light indigo HBT is cool

Thought I was set on a chore but this has thrown a spanner in the works. Going by description apparently it's based on type 1

I believe that's possibly based on an earlier jacket than the type 1
Very similar to this - https://tcbjeans.myshopify.com/collections/jackets-1/products/pre-order-no-2-blouse-1980
TCB JEANS
No.2 Blouse 1890
This jacket has wide shoulder and wide armholes so you'll get shoulder dropped silhouette when you wear it. If you have TCB 50's Jacket or S40's Jacket, we recommend the same size. If you don't have any other TCB jacket, we recommend you measure the shoulder width and sleeve length of your favorite jacket and choose a

Ah yes, think you're right. "Inspired by 1936 original type 1"
Regardless, in the very short time I've spent looking at some this morning, it's evident it won't be an easy choice at all
Oh could be a type 1 inspired jacket then, very hard to know for sure with them being based on jackets that are close 100 years old or older
it's worth the time I find, means you enjoy what you choose in the end more
100%. No massive rush for one but could be a Christmas present to myself
Thought it would've been a good idea to get pointed in the right direction from the start instead of aimlessly looking at random shite on the internet
You can always make another q&a post once you narrow it down to a certain style of jacket, you might find one you love though when you're looking now
Love the Lemaire boxy indigo jacket but even on sale it would stretch your budget

Coal Breaker indigo "Jelt" Chore Jacket
Inspired from a 1940's vintage chore Jacket, we chose a Japanese "Jelt" 11.5 oz denim for a period correct denim. Jelt was developed by Lee in 1925 to make a lighter more comfortable denim to work in with the strength of a 13 oz denim. This was a special process developed by Lee with a tighter weave and twisted yarn to
