also, if you want to figure out what's causing lag spikes, read this page from spark. The screenshots you sent won't help us. We'd need a spark link with a profiler started with
--only-ticks-over.could you lead me that way?

Lag spikes occur when a small number of ticks (or sometimes just one tick) takes a long time to execute.

spark is a performance profiler for Minecraft clients, servers, and proxies.
if you can, just let it run for a while (possibly use the tick monitor), wait for a few large lag spikes to occur (at least 5 to 10 of them) then stop the profile and send the link
don't use spark profiler open because the links expire
also lag spikes are more likely to occur if there's players on the server

probably just get a 2nd hand machine. You can get something like this or this in the UK. Both have similar performance and will be anywhere between 2.5x faster to 4x faster than your current server
