Nice!Nano dead after charging from USB-C port?
I built a wireless corne (nice!nano, nice!view, 6-column choc PCB with aluminum case) and I was charging the left half with USB-C to USB-C cable plugged into a wall plug. When I checked on the keyboard, the nice!view display showed a faded image and now the left half won't turn on. Tried resetting it (using the switch and the tweezers) and can't get into the bootloader. I took it apart and the battery and nice!view both work in my other wireless corne, but the nice!nano seems to be dead.
Wondering if it's possible that my choice of USB-C charger killed the nice!nano? One thing that I did notice after plugging in just the bare PCB + battery + nice!nano is that the orange charging light on the nice!nano turns on but it gets pretty warm... warmer than I'd expect.

It sounds like you're experiencing a serious issue with your nice!nano. While it's possible for a faulty charger or cable to cause damage, the nice!nano is designed to handle standard USB-C charging. However, if the charger provided too high a voltage or current, it could potentially lead to failure.
The fact that the nice!nano is getting warm when connected is concerning. It indicates that it may be drawing power but not functioning correctly. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot further:
1. Check the USB-C Cable and Charger: Ensure that the cable and charger you used are compliant with USB-C standards. Using a charger that outputs too much voltage or current can damage devices.
2. Inspect for Physical Damage: Look for any visible signs of damage on the nice!nano, such as burnt components or discoloration.
3. Test with a Different Charger: If you have another USB-C charger, try using it to see if the behavior changes.
4. Check Connections: Ensure that the nice!nano is properly seated in its socket and that there are no loose connections.
5. Cooling Down: If the nice!nano is warm, disconnect it and let it cool down completely before attempting to power it on again.
If the nice!nano still does not respond after these checks, it may be defective. In that case, you might need to consider a replacement. If you have further questions or need assistance, please refer to our troubleshooting documentation for more detailed guidance.
If it's getting warm that means there's an internal short 😦
could you send your order number?

I built the corne a couple months ago (October 9th) and haven't had any issues. It's only after this last charging session that the nice!nano seemingly got fried.
Got it, sending you a replacement nano tomorrow!
Great thanks, I just got the email. Appreciate the ez solder headers too, will save me the struggle of desoldering.
got the replacement nice nano and headers in thje mail. soldered everything up, dropped a reset firmware, and now we're typing on the corne again!
