Server Suddenly Cannot Appear Online
Quick Summary:
Somewhat recently, our Minecraft server stopped showing as online through the Multiplayer server list in the main menu. Trying to connect to it through the proxy address causes a Connection Timed Out error, and I'm unable to connect to the device directly because it is not hosted at my site and network security settings.
Tools/Services Used:
- Paper server running 1.20.2
- Windows 10 Pro
- My No-IP
I suspect the problem lies in My No-IP, due to some earlier attempts to fix the issue, though I do not really know where to begin with actually fixing this.

Why did you write your post like this
-# I was hoping it would make it stand out from the other questions and maybe get help sooner
So I guess the other questions are less important and you should receive priority support:thonk:
I didn't say that nor even imply it.
I was thinking that having formatting in my question would make it more palatable and easier to read, which would hopefully expose it better to someone browsing for easy-to-answer posts.
Just let Bro improve readability ๐
And be grateful that It's not just a big chunk of text haha
can people outside of your network still connect (test with something like https://mcsrvstat.us )
if not, is port forwarding setup correctly?
Sorry for the delay. No one can connect and the website says
DNS request failed: The domain name referenced in the query does not exist.
Port forwarding should be set up correctly unless it is able to just suddenly reset itselfUse nslookup on your domain
It's displaying the correct IPv4 address, although I'm unfamiliar with this tool and am unsure if that's all I should be checking with it
Skip dns and use plain ip address, does that work?
No, it used to work but the router it goes through has a security setting to block machine to machine connections. It had No-IP marked as a trusted site and that worked fine
Then itโs not a dns issue of plain ip doesnโt work
Sounds like you told your router to deny connections to your computer and it's doing exactly what you told it to do.
Ddns isn't a reverse proxy, whitelisting the IP of no-ip doesn't do anything
It sounds correct, but the problem I'm having is understanding why it worked just fine until now
I'm also not the one who set it all up, I just got brought on to maintain it, so it's possible something wasn't explained to me correctly
you do also have a lot of dyanmic factors
a thing that I like to do is to cut back, start from what works, and slowly add features, until it doesnt work
so you know whatever that you just added caused things to not work
