Looking for colorful or brighter shirt and sweater options
I'm looking to update some of the sweaters and button down shirts in my wardrobe which I haven't really touched since a year or two pre-covid. The picture provided includes some of my previous favorite items. Are there any brands or online stores to find more fun colorful options? I've looked around some but almost everything seems to be muted fall colors. I know part of that is due to the time of year, but I feel like 5-10 years ago there would still be some options with brighter colors in the fall/winter.

For more colorful options honestly the second hand market is your best bet. “Super colorful” isn’t super on trend rn, but you can totally find great options second hand if you just start by filtering your searches by color and going from there.
Some good keywords to look for a probably: madras, paisley and similar stuff
Thanks
I loved when paisley was more in fashion and I was hoping there would be something that would have replaced it, but I'm not seeing anything.
Do you have any recommendations for places to search for second hand? The only thing I've ever really used is Poshmark
You might be able to find some more colorful flannels as well if you look for them, Wythe (expensive) has some good options every year.
For second hand I can’t personally recommend anything that’s relevant to you (European), but from what I’ve heard most of the online second hand game is happening on eBay these days.
eBay. I've bought a lot of colorful stuff there (sweaters, shirts, even pants). It does take some patience, though, because you're looking for stuff that is uncommon, and there can be a fine line between "colorful" and "loud and ugly"
But this popped up today, for example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256732345606

@jfarrell468 Any recommended brands? I looked a few minutes ago and saw stuff I like but some of it was shipping from China and just seemed like it would be crap Temu type quality
For shirts, Haupt and Ralph Lauren
Also any suggested keywords that might narrow it down a bit outside of "colorful" or "bright"
You can find colorful flannels if you're patient.
I think Holfram was on point. madras, paisley, etc.
You have to be patient and spend time browsing, though. Most RL stuff is pretty tame, but then you'll come across something like this:
"fair isle" or "coogi" for sweaters
Colorful plaid or madras seems more timeless than something like paisley so I wonder if I'm just going to look horribly outdated continuing to wear it
maybe "argyle" too, which seems to be on-trend
I'm late 30s so not trying to chase trends but also don't want to be a man out of time
you can also try looking for synchilla fleeces if that's your thing
Not really my thing
check out shetland sweaters, they come in many colors
"patchwork" is another query I've tried. haven't had much success with it, but maybe you will.
yeah, eBay is an absolute goldmine for fun sweaters.
https://www.permanentstyle.com/2021/12/the-guide-to-shetland-sweaters-part-two-brands.html here are some recommended brands, personally i have a second hand jpress shaggy dog that i like
the traditional ivy/prep brands will often do a few colorful "go to hell" pieces in their collections.
This is J. Press, believe it or not: https://www.ebay.com/itm/186645628424

oooooOo some of these Coogi sweaters are so fun but so expensive new. I guess I'll check ebay for a while for some of these.
I also enjoy the fair isle patterns as well.
As for the Shetland sweaters my skin hates wool even merino wool.
If anyone else stumbles on this friend I found some used Harmont and Blaine that have fun options
