Ticket: 502 Error on Coolify Install with VPS and Cloudflare
@DFMontgomery Just created a ticket
Question: Hey everyone... Newbie here to the whole VPS and selfhosting. I'm attempting the Coolify install and have gotten pretty far. I've had the frontend load up on the http:// url from Coolify but got the 502 error. I setup my own domain and have it managed via Cloudflare. I've got the ssl all set and when I get to my URL I have "App is running". In the YAML file is says: Backend is running on: http://localhost:3000 But that's not the case. It says: localhost refused to connect. Try: Checking the connection Checking the proxy and the firewall ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Can someone take a look and help a guy out? Thanks
Attempted: I've gone round and round with Claude and other LLM's for the last couple of days thinking I'm only 1 little port away from success however I just haven't been able to get'r done. Here's my YAML file and it includes the Postiz error log. https://paste2.org/dwEczzdC Thanks in advance and I appreciate any help you can provide.
Working On: Just getting it up and running.
Using Postiz On: Coolify, Cloudflare
Take it from here @Postiz

@Postiz please help @DFMontgomery
Hello! π
Okay dokeyso let's see
ah, coolify, so there is an app now in the Coolify "store" for like a 1-click deploy
We're recommending that now as the way to install, instead of using docker-compose with Coolify
That's exactly what I did
ah rock on
I've literally burned over $50 with claude trying to work this out.
Oh no! Crikey, don't do that π
Just ask a real human in Discord lol
So, I've not used Coolify in a little while, I'll just try and setup a VM using Coolify and see how things are working now-a-days
I know I know..I'm hard headed like that... thinking the solution is just around the corner
hehe
I don't want to impose... however I've got it open and ready if you want to pop into a call...I'm in my support chat right now.
Ah that would be fine, sure thing
Just give me a minute to setup a coolify environment anyway though
Ok.
I'm here if you want.

Cool, 5-10 mins?
I'll be here... Thanks.
Nice one. Where are you based btw?
Wyoming. About a 90minutes from Yellowstone
And you?
ah rock on, nice part of the world π
UK here.
Awesome! I've got clients in the UK and some long time friends from when I spent time in Poland.
Okay, on my way π
Thank you
Heya, so, interesting. I did a deployment on Coolify first, and I was getting timeouts and weird issues.
I then deleted it, and started again from scratch, and the only think I changed was the "service name" to "postiz" instead of "postiz-asdfasdfas" before deploying
and it works fine.
I didn't have to change anything else at all.
Oh really.... I will have to give that a go. I really appreciate all your help today. And I'll let you know how I make out.
Ok... So I just did the same and of course it gave me a http://postiz-mocwwoc480sg4ock8o0go4wk.217.196.50.138.sslip.io/ url.
I then went and changed the url under the Postiz settings for the domain to my custom domain and I'm getting the "App is running!" on the frontend.
This is too weird
And... in my Environment variables... There are only 2 for Redis. The user and the password. No URL.
Look at your Postiz error log.
Hi @xcons, I just now tried to do a fresh pull as you recommended but I'm getting the exact same error when I put in my domain name. "App is running".
Okay, so don't change too much at once
Because we now know what's happening
For some reason your coolify deployment is pointing directly at port 3000 on the container
It needs to point to port 5000
Ping @drdiffie ^^
"App is running" is the backend API
Hey guys.
Did you changed the Port in the Domain?
This is in most of the cases your error.
Show me a Screenshot of the main overview of the Postiz Service on your Coolify instance.
Do not remove the port. By default the URL from Coolify will be something like " http://postiz-mocwwoc480sg4ock8o0go4wk.217.196.50.138.sslip.io:5000".
Yeah, I think last times you've been trying this @DFMontgomery perhaps you were kind of changing too much at once - the deployment should basically work without any real changes.
If you want to use your own Domain (and already set the A Record in Cloudflare [for example: "postiz.your-domain.com"]) change the URL to "https://postiz.your-domain.com:5000".
There is also a clear warning in Coolify for this, maybe you missed it.
@DFMontgomery Hit me up when you are Online again, and we do a clean, fresh install together. We are updating the Docs with exactly this configuration right now, so would be awesome to know how we can make it easier for you.
Also would be good to know on which Coolify Version you are.
It's a fresh Coolify install, he's just installed it just for Postiz.
Thanks for chipping in @drdiffie , I think @DFMontgomery is US Central timezone, so he's probably asleep, but I think he'll really appreciate these messages when he wakes up - thanks!
Alright waiting for him no problem π
you leaked your domain, people can create accounts on there
you guys can use a simple cloudflare 0 trust to protect your app until optional sign up is implemented, https://one.dash.cloudflare.com/3a0a89c7028602cddd98c7c3c0da75a9/home?tab=24h
Cloudflare One
Cloudflare One replaces legacy security perimeters with our global edge, making the Internet faster and safer for teams around the world.
You guys are too darn amazing. I've been sitting in front of my computer using this new windsurf.ai going to town building me a website and it's pretty flipping amazing. I wish I'd have seen your messages earlier I would have replied right away. I'm going to fire up coolify in my install and take a look at that port. I'm actually got a root domain set up over on cloudflare and I'm sure it's because there's no :5000 after my domain name. I'm going to go give that a shot.
Ok... I'm up and Runnin!!!
Sorta...lol...
Now I need to go read some docs to on how to create some app id's.
Thank guys. After I do some research on my own, I'll be back when Claude can't help me out. I'd rather you guys keep on keepin' on with the development instead of holding my hand. π
Cheers! @drdiffie @xcons
for other one can have some problems check here on coolify discord https://discord.com/channels/459365938081431553/1286987550090592328
No worries just a test area and no production domain + no services api keys are set so it useless even if you create an account.
Donβt hesitate if there is any issue hit me up πͺπΌ
I would love some direction on getting some social connections setup.
I'm just now switching from a website build to go back and look at Postiz.
Have you got some time for a quick hangout/video chat? I'm sitting in my tech support chat room if you do have some time.
https://gobrunch.com/ai1offs
Give me 20 minutes than I am back at my computer joining you!
That would be awesome!
If @DFMontgomery is cool with it, this can be closed @xcons.
I'm way good with it. Had a great time hangin' with you today doc. Let's catch up tomorrow. @drdiffie @xcons
Awesome, glad that you're setup mow @DFMontgomery
Many thanks for helping out @drdiffie
We're having a war on support tickets, so we're closing as soon as it's confirmed the issue is fixed - but please re-raise a new one of you need any help!
