Server stopped logging.
Not sure why, but my server is no longer logging to the filesystem. I have debug logging on for a variety of plugins, they used to log, they do not any longer. Also, for some reason the server setting section of the UI, where you configure logging, always says (restart required). Not sure if this is normal or not.
Any thoughts?
As an aside, the UI log window works fine and I see the messages happily trudging along.

Filesystem full?
No. Filesystem fine, permissions look fine. Not sure.
It started months ago, and I kind of just ignored it as I was in the boatyard 🙂
Where are you looking for the logs?
(That page does always say “Restart Required”),
~/.signalk There was a log there, and when I had the storage location it would see that log in the UI.
That’s a different log
NOT relate to “debug” settings
Yeah. I have debug on and that doesn't log either...
Debug and server logs go to /var/log/messages
It’s data logging that goes under .signalk
And that is turned on via the Data Connection settings
ok. Raspian has them in var/log/syslog, but I see them now.
Ahhh. ok. I guess I just didn't understand the logging mechanism. Thanks.
ok. Gotcha.
That answers it. Thanks.
As an aside, Is this better for Q&A, or github?
Either is fine with me
Any thoughts on this while I have you? https://github.com/SignalK/signalk/discussions/150
I’m familiar with that plugin and don’t use it, so not sure.
I do use ais reporter, for marine traffic and Aishub reporting
That’s working fine for me
ok. I can ping the author or see whatever other responses I get. I suppose I can also run ais-forwarder for reporting third party traffic and ais reporter for my position in the interim. I was just trying to avoid running two, when it used to work just fine. But that will get it working until I get to the bottom of it.
