Clothes that fit short torso
Hi, I'm sogou
I am having trouble finding clothes that fit me. I am 173 cm tall, with an 54 cm chest width pit to pit, an 40 cm waist width seam to seam, and 55cm shoulder width seam to seam, and 35cm belt to neck lenght. I am looking to find jackets and tops that fit me. The problem I often face when buying clothes is that they are way too baggy or too long on me, I feel like I look very blocky and short whenever I wear a top that isnt cropped or tucked in my pants. I would like to have a jacket or a hoodie that when worn would be short enough to display the belt, and fit me on shoulders without being too baggy. I am based in finland, so shipping from abroad while possible can be expensive and I would prefer something I can source locally, however I do understand if that is not possible. My budjet is under 400€.
I have attached a few images of jackets I like that fit in a way I would like to emulate. I've also attached a couple of pictures of me.
Thank you in advance.

interesting you say you do not like baggy clothes as those two inspo shots have very baggy and long jeans. Both work because of the cropped jacket, imo
the first jacket looks pretty specific w/ regards to puffiness and crop, but the second looks quite standard i think that one would be easier to replicate
No I like baggy jeans
Yes I would just like a short jacket that fits me on shoulders
also remember to mention budgets for what you're looking :)
im just thinking of this brand since someone mentioned it yesterday, but the second jacket could be this, for example https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/cropped-zip-workwear-jacket-57299819?categoryId=12221&faceout=model&seq=09&afsource=social+proofing and there are many similar jackets out there
Men's Cropped Zip Workwear Jacket | Men's Coats & Jackets | Abercro...
Our new trucker-style jacket in a cozy twill fabric and cropped length, featuring a relaxed-fit silhouette, left chest pocket, side pockets, corduroy fold-down collar, zip-up front and lightweight interior lining.
i quite like the tucked white shirt (or the half that is tucked :xd: ) i think that works well
Thats possible. Its a 6'1 wearing a size M tho so it would look a lot longer on me even tho its cropped
the jacket i linked is purely because it was in recent memory, just fyi its not even that cropped despite the name
which is why measurements are important to know
Yeah its fine. I was just maybe pointing out how this is the issue with most stuff
Most models are taller than me and wear smaller clothes
Makes ordering online bothersome
ok, we have no clue what stores you have access to in your area so why not go explore a bit and see if anything available might work
Nah I have been looking for a long time
I have to order online or visit another town
I'm seeing a lot of people trying to help you and you shooting down every suggestion given. Maybe you should reflect on that instead of being overly combative towards people trying to help you
I have had this problem for years and most given solutions I have tried and they failed.
ok good luck 🫡
Thank you still
anyway, proper bomber jackets have a cropped fit, otherwise workwear or denim jackets (especially vintage cuts) can have the look you're searching for. Examples of all 3 are in https://brut-clothing.com/collections/brut-coats-jackets which is a parisian vintage store that only recently started their own collection, inspired by vintage cuts
BRUT Clothing
Brut : Coats & Jackets
Brut is a vintage store in Paris, curating the best clothes from military surplus to American best brand : pendleton, proclub, levi's, ralph lauren, made in usa. We design our own garment, denim made in france, upcycled shirt, barbour, moleskine french chore work jacket, tailor pants, cargo pants, sailor sweaters.
Another option, particularily relevant for denim jackets is to just DIY crop them. Its pretty easy.
Yeah that looks good. I should try searching a thrift store for a denim
Cropping other materials is harder no?
You can look for type 1 denim jackets. They have a boxier and more cropped shape by design
Noted thank you
Well, once there is a lining it gets complicated. The easy thing about denim is that it looks good raw hemmed. With other stuff you might want to fold the hem inward and properly sew it (or have an alterations tailor do that for you)
Tailors are sadly very expensive nowadays

They have some vintage inspired cropped cuts
Just checked and its free after a certain price :letsfuckinggo:
My alterations tailor takes like 20€ for most of the not complicated stuff like hemming a jacket. Its propably not that much more were you are at.
They have better sizing charts than any other online shop I have seem
Yeah they have been recommended a lot recently, I don't own any but they look good
No I looked into it and its like 100+ prolly because the tailors are going out of business
Like 40€ to crop a t shirt
So with my current budject DIY tailoring is the way to go
Its a useful skill to have 👍
Thought I will buy a sewing machine while im in the army next year
two thoughts - the first is entire studios might be worth looking at, especially with some of their current discounts https://www.entirestudios.com/product/fluffy-overcoat-charcoal
entire studios
entire studios
the second is that i found it helpful sometimes to set wider leg pants lower on the hips to get that billowing effect in 1/2
especially in my case since i have a short torso/long pelvis/long legs
If you want proportions like the inspo you just need higher rise looser fit pants first. I’m basically the same height as you, it’s a little tough to find jackets as cropped as I want them to be so I just get the proportions I want with my top and pants and do something different with my jacket. Don’t get overly focused on your body being a stumbling block, it’s not a healthy mindset
I also ended up cropping a couple jackets on my own and making one that fit me how I wanted as well
You can figure that out if you want to and you put in the effort but it’s real work and no matter how many questions you ask or videos you watch you still have to do the sewing yourself. Best way to do it is to do it
Some examples of short top/long leg looks. Some are similar to the inspo in vibe most are going a different direction but the ideas are still relevant as far as finding clothes that make the proportions you’re looking for
I did buy baggier pants and now waiting for them to arrive 👍
Yes you are right, thank you
