new guages
you asked a while back about “new guages” .
i think i showed you below dashboard, which has multiple “devices” - with guages
built from largely text guages and blank guages “boxes” .
One of the guages that i use quite a bit is for a “charger” ,
it has a name, voltage, current, and status (text string) fields.
it would be very handy if this was a single guage, rather than at present its 5 guages total to make it.
.. and to transport it to a new page, or modify it is cumbersome.

Why is it 5?
correction 4.
voltage guage
current guage
text guage
blank guage with title and border
the last one is “underneath” the other 3, which are positioned on “top” (withno borders )
minor correction, the voltage guage includes the title,
the fourth guage is simply blank with a border .. to be able to get a border around the other 3.
(4 guages total)
Ok. So I could do a “Vertical Stack” gauge.
Could support any number of stacked gauges
yep that would work…
where you can define
- a title and overall border
- guage type 1 (eg voltage)
- guage type 2 (eg current)
- guage type 3 (could be power, status text etc)
thinking aloud … 4 guages in the stack should allow for enough combinations and flexibility..
can always put another stack above it..
Easier for me just to allow any number of gauges. Already have the code to configure them.
i do something similar for my B2Bs (have qty 6 of these)
configurable number even better!
if its “unlimited” (sorta)
then it could even cater for my smart battery guage … which is an extreme case !
… i would just stack all the cells vertically
above needs 12 individual guages at present!
That one’s harder because of sizing
if all the guages just stacked vertically?
Yeah
Have to think about that one…
hmm. yeah i can see the issue … as individuals i control the size of each
this is very much an outlier … i have this on one dashboard only …. and its set and forget (now that ive set it up … which was quite a task) … all multiplied x 3 (three smart batteries in the bank)
lets set this one aside!
FYI
IOS 18.1.1 .
all good so far
… and aside wsk … i do like the improved IOS general layout on the ipad pro …. its better optimised to the bigger screen
Released build 243 which has the new “Vertical Stack” gauge
noted, thanks, away travelling for a few days , (not on boat)..
.. will do some tests and report back
Get a chance to try it out?
flying home today.
staying with my (88 yr old) mum for a week … who doesnt have the fastest internet…. 🙂
i gave up in frustration … and had a larely internet free week!
just went to do some new/modify templates (new editor),
im getting a crash every time i try to add or edit exist template .
but not getting a crash report prompt.
?
Vertical stack guage
- working as expected
however to have a “overall” guage title - using the normal guage title …
is very difficult to get it not over writing the first guage in stack…
im playing around with padding, but cant stop it over writing the first guage …
will try title font size
*** ouch !
just discovered that in the middle of editing a guage in wsk, when i changed the focus to discord to send you a msg … (i hadnt saved) and lost all the editing.
lesson learned
.. using new editor now … not crashing, hmm weird.
update:
using a 3 guage stack.
all work as expected, however they space evenly vertically - correct - however top (first guage defined in stack)
over writes the guage title .. and when trying to used padding or similar .. the first guage then becomes disproportionately smaller than others.
so im thinking - define a 4 guage stack, first guage is title, and leave it blank in the normal guage title?
just tried to save a layout to server… the button at top aint working… does nothing?
new editor
if i open it in old editor - i can save to server no problem.
ok something weird going on….
in new editor ..
i have to go back and forth between custom templates and the active templates .. sometimes that top button works, others not.
aside above quirks ..
good news, using a 4 stack - with top guage a “blank” type … with just a title,
i can produce below . all good.
but a question - if i now save this as a custom guage … because there is no title in the “overall” stack guage …
will it save it with no title? … and hence not sure how wsk will react when displaying saved/custom guages?
Ok. There’s definitely a bug with the new gauge, the first gauge should be below the title if there is one. I thought I had that working…
