Port forwarding on a mac
I have a spare mac sitting in my basement that has been un-used.
The specs: Processor 2.7GHz 2.9GHz, Memory 8GB (two 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 memory, Storage 1 TB (5400-rpm) hard drive, Graphics 2.7GHz 2.9GHz, Video Support
If I wanted to host a server would it still work on a mac or do I need a windows pc?

you can use a mac to host a server
You never need windows for hosting a server
It’s highly advised you don’t use windows
Thank you
I have another question
Is there a way to use a custom domain, kinda like how hypixel doesnt have 183.218.1931 they have hypixel.net?
Yes
how?
Porkbun or Cloudflare domains
ok
Set up an A record to your IP
ok
Are there any free server hosting websites that would be better than the mac because the mac is over 12 years old? Should I use the mac?
There are no good free hosting services
And domains aren’t free either btw
ok
The cloudfare domain is free right?
no…
It’s like $12/y
Or less depending on the domain
Also 1 last question, is there a way to edit the server's icon and motd?
server.properties for motd, and put a file called server-icon.png in the server folder for the icon
ok
thank you!
Yes there are
Fps for example (cough cough ✨)
