[RESOLVED] Reset buttons not working consistently anymore
I’ve been loading updated keymaps by flashing the firmware pretty consistently up until today. I did drop the right half of my keyboard a couple nights ago and had to reseat my nice!view and nice!nano on the solderless spring headers swapping the left and right nice!views in the process since I wanted to check if the one I dropped wasn’t turning on because of the nice!view being damaged or if something else was wrong with the right half of the keyboard. Both ended up turning on so I didn’t think much of it.
Now I’m getting inconsistent responses when I double click the reset buttons while connected via USB to my computer and the drive isn’t showing up reliably.
I don’t have a multimeter (nor do I know how to use one). Could I have messed up my keyboard somehow? Any suggestions for what I should check or do to get both sides working reliably again?
The nice!view in the half of the keyboard I dropped is a bit laggier than the other one so I’ve gone ahead and ordered a replacement but thought I’d check with folks here in case there’s other things I should be checking.

It sounds like you may have encountered a few issues after dropping your keyboard. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the inconsistent reset button behavior and the drive not showing up reliably:
1. Check the Reset Button: Since you reseated the nice!nano and nice!view, ensure that the reset button is properly soldered or seated. If it’s loose or not making good contact, it may not function consistently.
2. Inspect the Sockets: Make sure that the solderless spring headers for the nice!nano and nice!view are making good contact. If they are not seated properly, it could lead to intermittent connections.
3. Check for Physical Damage: Look for any visible damage to the PCB or components, especially around the reset button and the areas where the nice!nano and nice!view connect. Any cracks or disconnections could cause issues.
4. Re-seat Components: Since you’ve already reseated the nice!nano and nice!view, try doing it again to ensure they are firmly connected. Sometimes, a slight misalignment can cause problems.
5. Firmware Flashing: If you can get the drive to show up, try flashing the firmware again. This can sometimes resolve issues if the firmware has become corrupted.
6. Replacement Parts: Since you mentioned ordering a replacement nice!view, once it arrives, you can replace the laggier one. This may help improve performance on that side.
7. Testing with Another Device: If possible, try connecting your keyboard to a different computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the keyboard or the original computer.
If you continue to experience issues after these steps, it may be worth considering reaching out for further assistance or checking the troubleshooting documentation for more detailed guidance.
Resolved. Turns out it was user error.
The dual-headed Anker USB-C cable I was using only allows data transfer for a single connection at a time. Once I realized this, going back to a regular USB-C cable showed that the reset buttons were working as expected.
