What shoes for California business casual?
Really just wear polo or Oxford button down and pair it with dark jeans or grey/navy chino type pants.
What shoes do you recommend for this?
Sneakers like adidas spezial in non bright colors or something more formal like this https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-fifth-avenue-cap-toe-oxford-dress-shoe-with-dainite-sole-3022859/dark-chili-leather-ec4001415
I’ve seen people wear dunks, athletic shoes. But higher ups sometimes dress nicely if there’s a meeting . I’m in the middle

Both are fine honestly. Just take whatever you like more.
I would propably reccommend a derby over an Oxford in the leather shoe department, as derbies are a bit more comfortable and less formal. In general I would recommend getting at least two pair of shoes to cycle through. Shoes (especially leather but to a limited degree sneakers as well) benefit from a day of rest between wears (ideally with shoe trees) so if you need two pairs right now you could get a sneaker and a leather pair for varietys sake, giving you a bit of a broader range of expression.
I think Stans are a good choice. Alternatively, a good pair of leat her boots are great too
Oxford are considered a more formal type of shoe. If you aren’t wearing a suit I might do derby’s or bluchers which are more informal while still being “nicer” than sneakers.
Like this derby? https://www.allenedmonds.com/product/mens-windsor-plain-toe-derby-3028426/chili-leather-ec4500411 or do u have another one within that budget that is better
Or is this derby too formal
derbies are casual, if that is too formal for your taste you could go suede instead.
