Corduroy - Topic of the day 11/16/24
Corduroy - beloved childhood icon and fabric alike, corduroy's ridges mark a sharp contrast to other fabrics. How do you feel about corduroy, and how does it fit into your wardrobe? What are some brands or items that make good use of corduroy? How does it compare to other fabrics?

I love super wide wale corduroy. This pair stunlocks me https://shop.colbo.nyc/products/double-pleat-pants-corduroy-colbo?srsltid=AfmBOoqywjSqgJccgxwe7LOLP43JObdng07NhdpMmtq5ySvsOTSlrAeu&variant=43858534990072. I found some vintage issey that is fairly wide but not quite as perfect as the colbo pair. I believe Beans owns these.
Colbo
Double Pleat Pants, Corduroy
Our latest version of the Colbo pleat trouser made from Italian deadstock very-wide-wale corduroy with a straight leg, two pleats per side, and taped seams throughout. Features an Italian lampo zipper, natural corozo buttons, and natural cotton pocketing. Made in New York.
Otherwise my regular corduroy are some vintage pleated PRL, lovely for the fall
is that what the ridges are called, wales?
Today I'm wearing some Merely Made corduroy in a grid pattern instead of vertical wales. Not sure if there's a specific name for this style or not
Anyway fuzzy pant good
I love corduroy. Darker palette for fall and winter, and you can introduce some lighter colors early spring/late summer. I used to have more pairs and colors back in the slim days and am slowly reintroducing wider pairs into my current wardrobe. They just pair so well with wool sweaters and evoke a very cozy feeling for me when it's cold out. And the texture's fun - sometimes when I'm needing a stimulation I'll just scratch my pants lmao.
that's funny i have some slim cords i think im gonna break out since they fit my waist again
would like some wider ones but summer clothes takes priority first sadly
I want a corduroy suit so bad to complete my collection of “suits other than worsted wool”
I should clarify that my "slim" corduroy back then was closer to skinny. :xdcrying: I think they were Bonobos pre-Walmart in their skinniest fit.
corduroy is a staple for me (from my monthlong)
I have a corduroy suit and I love it. but rarely have occasion to wear it
I love corduroy so much and have a three pants and two jumpsuits
I like white corduroy a lot
corduroy jumpsuit is craaazy
i love corduroy and i need more of it
all i have are these lees that're kind of the only corduroy i have rn
I should wear them more often
You have links to any of those pants? Some great cuts
Corduroy is great. I used to have a lot of it but for some reason I passed a lot of it on.
Things I love about corduroy not mentioned yet:
-Drapes pretty well for cotton.
-Works pretty well in vibrant colours
-Wide whale corduroy has a bit of a sheen, adding visual interest.
I will eventually need to hunt for a very casual two piece set (i.e. Sherpa Trucker jacket + 5 pocket trouser or something like that) in corduroy.
What I don't love about corduroy is how relatively tricky it is to pull off double corduroy. Double denim is much easier imo
I've only owned cord pants but I've been into the idea of a jacket for a bit, I just don't see too many options a lot of the time
Green corduroy has been like 90% of my involvement. But I had like texture issues with it for a while where it would just like evaporate in certain spots or something. No idea what it was about
The pants are all Polo Ralph Lauren Andrews
