Can't run minecraft with shaders (any shaders)
hi all ... i'm having a problem which i spent some time tweaking and debugging but i'm kinda lost now
i'm unable to play with shaders, i thought that it was the amount of mod, but i can't in vanilla either
i have a high-end pc, but the game keeps stuttering and freezing, specilly when i have a gui open
but if i change the window on focus (like pressing alt+tab for smt in the second monitor) i can see the game running smoothly
what can i do from here? should i open an issue? what can i provide to help (logs, specs)?

How to find crash reports and logs
It is recommended to upload your logs to https://mclo.gs then paste the link into Discord to automatically censor potentially sensitive information and help us diagnose issues more efficiently. However, you may also drag and drop the file directly into Discord.
Logs can be found in the logs folder inside your .minecraft directory. We are probably interested in the one named latest.log.
Crash reports can be found in the crash-reports folder inside your .minecraft directory. We are probably interested in the most recently created one.

Specs could be useful too please
+110 fps, but its unplayable because of the stutter and freezes (i can record a video if needed)
just got a 5 min timeout for sending the mclo.gs link 💀
i'll stick with sending the file itself
in the
latest.log
there aren't any relevant information ... but at around 23:52 i turned the shaders on and off
in the debug.log
there are more info, but no errorsWin11, 64GB RAM, RTX 4080, i9 12900KF
don't think it should make any difference but the game is running on the same SSD as the SO
Wow those are crazy specs!
Are all of your drivers up to date?
ikr ... i didn't expect to have performance issues lmaoo
currently have 365.90 from october 15th (the problem was already happening then)
i'll update to the latest (which is from tuesday 💀)
just updated ... the problem persists
one thing that i noticed while trying to solve this ... is that the game shows the GPU at 100% but the task manager shows it at 70-80% tops
the only thing i haven't tried yet is formatting my pc, i really didn't want to get to that point haha
Can you share the right side of your F3 menu as well
there ya go
Everything appears fine there. I will preface this by saying rethinking voxels is a pretty intensive shader to run. That said, I’d like to know if you’ve monitored your GPU’s temperatures to make sure it’s not getting too hot and throttling itself, causing the stutters
ik ... i tried with other shaders as well (complementary, bsl for instance)
gpu temperatures are fine ... staying at around 55-60
cpu i'm getting some reasonably high temperatures 70-80
but i ran some stress test to track bootleneck (like the one with aida64) and it is running normally at this temp
i think i'll format the pc in the end ... its been some time that i've been thinking to be necessary
Something you can try doing is increasing the process priority of javaw.exe in task manager
If you don’t know how to do that, open Minecraft and in task manager find Java. Right click and go to details. When you right click javaw.exe in the details list there will be an option for priority
Be sure to disable V-sync in Minecraft settings. If you need it for Variable Refresh Rate, use your GPU's V-sync settings instead.
I forgot to check for v-sync :ioa:
big cause of fps loss
Also big cause for stuttering. I've seen it myself that V-sync tends to cause far more noticeable micro-stutters compared to forcing an fps limit.
i’ll try that thx ^~^
good point … this was a instante i created just to show the problem in a clean env and forgot to disable it
but i usually do
