if you could be the CD of any poor-performing high end brand, which one would you choose
and what would you do to revive it? (I am definitely not Daniel Lee) (CD meaning Creative Director)

gimme a list of poor performing high end brands
Burberry lol
Fendi
Burberry
Bally
Ferragamo
I think? I have not seen anyone wear ferragamo in a long time
Bally? The pinball machine company?
lots of these are accessory focused bought by the same old ppl that have been buying it forever
sure, but I'd rather entertain the question even though it's a bit flawed in its formulation rather than steering the discussion into what counts as a poor performing brand
fair enough!
Which is also interesting, but not necessarily what i was curious about
some of these brands have older cool stuff that exists in their catalogue, like burberry, that can be revived and riffed on
some of them would just need an entire overhaul into making the average shopper care about the name
burberry sounds like it'd be the easiest to do something with but i guess also makes it the most difficult to execute at the same time?
Bally is a swiss luxury brand that focussed on leather goods. They brought in Rhuigi from Rhude as a CD a couple of seasons back but then fired him after a couple of seasons. he actually had some fun with it, creating stuff like a cashmere college hoodie that had a st moritz graphic on it
Sounds like the problems run deep there
Burberry just need to reposition to a heritage brand with a reflected lower price point honestly. Asia would eat that up (and Europe would actually buy stuff again)
BRING ZEGNA BACK
idk I feel like ed hardy is like prime for a diesel esque comeback
So probably ed hardy
Wait what am I saying
John varvatos
For sure
john would be huge
char is cooking
I’d have the lowest expectations
And then when it goes to skinny fit again vintage varvatos would slay
I don't know anything about varvatos, whats your favorite season of his so i can get a feel for the vibe
No clue he was before my time
The vibe was criss angel
it's very gaudy rocker vibe
yea
Was part of the ed hardy/affliction but more higher end
idk if there's a person who has a favorite season
if varvatos just made the same shit but cranked up to 1000% it would be nuts
what would that look like
hair-on tiger leather boots with ethically sourced tiger skin
in reality it would be moreso a marketing rebrand situation over anything else
okay but why is john varvatos not insanely popular with the opium kids
they can kep making the same thing
they need a cool guy to wear it first no
yea fax
I need Dior to fire MGC so we can get some colour back in the collections
It feels kinda bad to say this but Hermes has had the same menswear designer for over 34 years
and like I respect her legacy but compared to JPG Margiela and lemaire for womens
It feels like we kinda got the short end of the stick
They need a brand ambassador rockstar
But like rockstars aren’t cool rn
I would employ Rosalia personally
2hollis wears it and its over
Dunhill also could be much cooler than it currently is. it's now just Loro Piana for xenophobes
Damn my Dunhill eBay shirt just came in the mail today
They said the quality was good lol
I don’t know anything about the brand
There were mgc to Gucci rumors floatin around but it didn’t happen
Which Sabato de Sarno had done a few cool things so I wouldn’t like to see him fired yet
Tisci tried that I think it didn't go that well
I am a bit warmer on him after the last collection
But yeah midi is 100% right especially because you can fire two bad designers for the price of one
I just remember the cool coats from his debut tbh
MGC should have been let go maybe two years ago
The last year has especially been terrible
And like 4 for Kim Jones
There was a rumor of Moncler looking to take over Burberry
https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/moncler-not-talks-take-over-burberry-sources-say-2024-11-11/
Reuters
Moncler not in talks to take over Burberry, sources say
Italy's Moncler MONC.MI is not in talks to take over Burberry
, four sources close to the matter said on Monday in response to a report by Britain's Mail on Sunday that a bid by Moncler was imminent.
I could manage to find things I like for 24 collections, but the rest is so eh
I’m so sad that the Jonathan Anderson to Dior rumors fizzled even though he wouldn’t have been my top choice
Very glad that the Galliano to Dior rumors fizzled rip bozo
Hah.
It's weird but I find both the check and the PRL horse as unique and as selling points to me.
I would love him to go there
Please save me
There were a lot of different people reporting it it could still happen :copium:
I like Dior rtw because it's cute but sensible
But it's become so stale
Too much black white and garbadine
Kim Jones should’ve been executed outside of 30 Avenue Montaigne for this btw
Yeah let’s reference the best dress of all time but make it fucking suck
I'd turn off-white into a stationary brand
and a coffee brand
Philip Plein then:xd:
