NI'm directly using the app without the blog (for the blog): https://toograded.com/blog, I just forget to put the in the articles but nothing difficult.
In terms of seo I really prefer to have the blog in a instead a subdomain.
It may not be the most convenient, but if well organised, it can be more than enough.
