VCore 4 does not print straight but wavy lines
Hi everyone, my newly built VCore4 400 Hybrid doesn't print a straight line but instead prints wavy lines. The closer it gets to the sides of the print, the more the problem gets and the waves become stronger. In addition, you can hear something tensing up or pressure building up, as if the motors aren't running synchronously. I've attached a few pictures to clarify this, here I deliberately worked with underextrusion to illustrate the problem and show that it's not a filament problem.
What I've already tried:
- Belt tension
- Belt path
- Swapped stepper drivers
- Swapped steppers
- Removed Y belts
- Checked linear rails
- Reduced pressure on the orbiter to a minimum
- Reinstalled RatIOS
I have no idea where else to look.

I had a toothed pulley that was out of round on one of motors that could maybe cause this - didnt print anything with it until I replaced it though. Took me a bit to narrow it down, biggest giveaway away was you could feel it while moving the head around by hand. Had a tight-loose-tight resistance pattern
Thank you for your contribution. My head moves easily and without chopping or anything like that. It doesn't pull to the side or anything like that when I move it.
FYI, when you mention someone like @Salut you need to select the name from the list that pops up, not just type it, otherwise it doesn't generate a notification.

those were 2 layers
Can you:
1. do a cold pull. Make sure orbiter tension is sensible afterwards.
2. (re)calibrate pressure advance for this filament
2. do a larger 25% infill 2 layer test - say 300x300? It looks like the wiggle happens more nearer the edges, but this could be pure coincidence. A larger test will help clarify this.
Steps 1 & 2 help rule things out, even if they seem like a long shot.
It is impossible to make a reasonable PA measurement with these waves see picture.
Well 0.08 (green) looks clearly the best to me from that test, at least judging by the external corner bulge. For the 0.03 (red) used in the gcode you sent, the bulge is pretty bad. Could you do another PA test with range from 0.07 to 0.1?
That's true, but we're talking about a direct extruder here. The PA here is 0.07-0.1. Even 0.1, which is extremely high, is still too low, but the gaps between the layers are very large. That also indicates that something is wrong, or am I seeing it wrong? I have no experience with the Orbiter 2, but all other extruders so far have been between 0.015-0.03 and the Orbiter's specifications should actually be around that.

PA depends a lot on speed, accel, printing temp, .......
the orca tests are nice and fast, but not very precise
even with a direct extruder you can get higher values, this depends on much more variables than jsut he type of extruder
Ok, I've worked it out. Your printer is celebrating Halloween by making everything look spooky - check out the numbers on the second PA test. Very spooky 😱
But seriously, compare the printed numbers on the tests. A bit different. And worse on the second test. Really really wavy. I'm struggling to put that down to PA. What do you think Helge?

As the man said, let's get PA sorted before looking at anything else. Are you using Jayo matt white PLA?
I will print the print that Helge requested this evening when I get home. The white is a Sunlu pla+, the black in the first pictures is Jayo pla matt, I use this filament a lot and actually know it very well, so these results and values ​​are completely foreign to me.
@Helge Keck @tg73 Although I only print with 8000 acceleration, the printer wobbles like jelly, much more than a Trident with 20000.
I have now loosened all the idlers a little to reduce any tension, but to no avail.
