Trouser fit question; what I would want and what I (currently) got!

I am currently (slowly but surely) building up a business-casual menswear wardrobe and am looking for some fit advice before trying on, and ordering new wool trousers. I have one pair of trousers from SuitSupply (Vigo model; pleated) which I thought would be a great addition to my wardrobe, and I think it will be, if I would get the fit correct. I have added two pictures of how I would ideally like my trousers to look (grey pants, pictures 3 and 4), and the current state of these SuitSupply trousers in picture 1 and 2. I really like the fabric and the looks of these trousers, but they just don't fit me well and I could really use some fit advice before buying another pair/altering this one. What I have noticed with the current state of these trousers: - The trouser legs get caught on my calves sometimes when sitting down (which annoys me alot) so that is something I will look out for more; - I also notice that there is fabric bunching around my knees and that it doesn't seem like my trousers are 'neatly' looking around the waist and hips (even though they sometimes feel a little tight when walking up stairs for example); Any advice, especially for the pants to look more closely to picture 3 and 4 around the hips and waist, and keeping a nice straight line with the pleats? Thanks alot in advance!

The leg is too tapered for the look you want. In your reference photo, the person is wearing a straight leg. Length looks ok on yours. Waist on yours might also be too tight. The bunching at the knee and getting caught on your calves are both because there is not enough fabric for the pants to drape cleanly

I've gotten this pair second-hand and it has been tapered, so that could explain it! Very helpful to keep the straight-leg in mind when looking for another pair. Thanks for that! Would you say the room around the hips is too much? I feel as though the trousers in the reference photo are complimenting his figure alot better (and the video where I've taken these snapshots from specifically talks about having plenty room around the hips; its from The Armoury). The waist I'm unsure about, I am currently wearing it with the side-adjusters fully tugged and it's not that snug πŸ˜…

I think it looks fine, the difference might be that yours look pleated, and the trousers in your reference photo are flat fronted hard to tell, but the pockets on yours look a bit like they are flaring out, which might be becuase you've pulled the tabs so hard. Am I imagining that?

I also have a reference photo from the same person, same pair of pants in the same size, but with pleats instead of a flat front (maybe should've posted that one instead πŸ™ƒ )

imo both suitsupply and the armoury run a little more tapered than other brands especially if the armoury trousers were custom or bespoke

Just checked: If I make the side adjusters loose again nothing changes with regards to the pockets.

okay good to know. Are the pockets flaring out a bit or am I making that up?

i can see a little pocket flare but that might be a matter of the rise on the suitsupply pants

I agree, I really dig the look but think this current pair is way too tapered as is which just completely messes up the sillhouet 😦

not sure how high the rise is on your trousers but it might be worth going a little higher rise to get the same visual effect

I think it's to do with the Vigo model, the pockets protrude just a tiny bit. Here's a photo from the website of this model but in grey

The topside of the waistband is exactly on the underside of my belly button. Maybe 1-2cm higher would help? It does feel comfortable though. I think making sure I have a nice straight leg fit (to keep the pleatline straight, remove bunching at the knee, and don't have it getting stuck near my calves) and have my waist taken in again will help. I will also try to see if having it sit a little bit higher can help! I have an appointment this weekend so I can update πŸ™‚

many of my pants sit at or just above the bellybutton and yield a similar intended drape (either via dumb luck or tailoring or both) sometimes it takes a little trial and error to get the intended fit especially comparing to retailer pics under ideal settings, it sounds like you're on the right path πŸ‘

Thanks for the advice πŸ™‚

pretty sure these aren't pleated either. The creases at the front are just from ironing.

They are these trousers (https://www.thearmoury.com/collections/trousers/first-class-high-twist-wool-model-b-trousers?variant=40266376904775) from their website, advertised as single-pleated (at product details). In the video I got them from he is specifically talking about the pleats on the pants, so I'm positive they are not just ironed creases
First Class High-twist Wool Model B Trousers
The Armoury’s own Model B trousers from Ring Jacket are a classic complement for our sport coat options. Featuring a high rise and single pleats, they are flattering on all body types. This pair is...

Ah I see Model A doesn't have a pleat, but Model B does.

yours are too low rise and too slim. The ref photos still have a bit of taper but not nearly that much
