Dressing down a navy blazer to wear it more

I bought a navy blazer a year and half ago based on the subreddit’s idea that it “is the most versatile jacket a man can own”. Though I find myself not wearing it too often, since I live in the west coast and don’t attend a prestigious university. To me it just seems too formal for most occasions (work, dinner, etc.) I’m 27 also. I am looking for ideas on how to style it that’s less ivy and more casual or even workwear. I have a banquet coming up for a club that’s not necessarily formal, but also people typically try to dress nicer. One outfit I came up with is this chambray shirt, olive drab officer chinos, boots. Curious what you think?

I think this looks good! A navy blazer really is pretty versatile - as in it can be dressed up or down in easily. It’s honestly not a great choice if you’re not much of a blazer guy lol

one way to make this really casual would be something like a college sweatshirt. For your banquet specifically, I'm with Holfram, this looks good!

But yeah, this is chill. You’re looking good, not overdoing anything. For more casual navy blazer inspiration you can check out Ha-Neul Lee on insta, he has some fits with one! A recipe for success that I stole from one of our own (sorry puma) is a navy blazer with light wash jeans, loafers and an oxford - it’s also fun to break this look up with some jewelry in a more casual direction or a fun tie for a more “whatever” approach to tailoring

i had similar thoughts and found that just wearing it more removed some of the stigma and mental hangups

it's worth searching for posts in #waywt from people like art (artvandelayimporting), jawntanamo_bae and LeisurelyLoafing but like Holfram said shifting from ocbd + chinos will help

That's a good idea. But unfortunately I don't have a lot of room in the arm hole and chest to work with since it's a Spier Mackay jacket. I do like how a sportscoat + sweatshirt/sweater looks on others though. I hadn't thought about light wash jeans. But I'll give it a try. I don't own loafers though since I haven't found any that fit me well. Yeah. I am not sure what exactly it is. I think in my mind, sometimes it looks like I am wearing an orphaned suit jacket vs a casual jacket. Also yeah the navy blazer + chino's look kinda reminds me of salesman now. Thanks for the inspo pics.

I’m not 100% on the shoes but here’s with light wash jeans. Maybe it’ll work with derbies.
