Bucket hats and tailoring
I’ve been experimenting with bucket hats and tailoring lately. I feel like most of these outfits are near misses rather than successes. I’ve attached some images of me, and a few of my inspo images. Can you help me identify where I might be going wrong? Thanks in advance.

theres a formality clash
ethan for example is in jeans
third one is an open collar shirt with no tie and sneakers
basically you're trying to throw a bucket hat on top of an ivy/trad fit but thats really not gonna work, it needs to have some level of subversion in the fit itself for the hat to synergize with
I think the color palette is kinda off and the formality feels p high in your fits. Feels v sincere tailoring rather than the whimsy that a bucket hat evokes
i also think ethan is the only one of these 3 making it work
smiles spot on here
Agree with smiles and kyn, this fit i had saved came to mind. I think the bucket hat works because the whole fit feels pretty loose and relaxed just from the cut and fabric, also no tie
i think the sneakers are part of what make the third fit work
it makes the whole thing seem more playful i guess
basically what the previous guys are saying
i think you’re nearly there though
Mm I can see that. Is there a color pallete you think would work better?
My body decided about sixth months ago that it simply wouldn’t be comfortable in the straight fit denim that had made up the core of my wardrobe.
I’ve been kinda flailing ever since. Have some wider fitting denim on the way, but struggling to style it.
I appreciate the feedback. Maybe for now I can just lean into the preppy vibe more fully
Thank you!
The first two just feel v beige and idk don’t have the same whimsey
