This show finally got me to buy some Levi's, sadly not Selvage as they're late '90s/early 2000s. However, they were only $40 AUD 🇦🇺
And soon some high quality white tees
Kinda want one of the blue aprons off the show too haha
What were some of your favorite fits from the show?
I’ve never seen the show. But I keep getting adverts for the NN07 Jacket and now I want it
Marcus wears some great fits in Copenhagen. Also, anything Sydney wears imo

The Heart of 'The Bear' Isn't Food—It's Fashion
Costume designer Courtney Wheeler spills on all the inspiration behind the show's biggest style moments—including some you may have missed.
I enjoy the inclusion of discussions about fashion every few episodes. The pilot practically opens with one about why vintage Levi's are better
thombrowne
… yes, chef …
ayo edebiri wears a custom thom browne chef jacket for the bear season 2, now on hulu.
congratulations, ayo … xoxo.

True, they are definitely hyped
obliterating background and looking for nuance in the faces
in the clothing stuff specifically they constantly talk about details and don't talk about functionality or "quality" or durability or any of that stuff at all
just things that are visually appealing and have an impactful emotional effect
Like Carmi talking lovingly about making custom Dickies shorts iirc
the thom browne cropped pants conversation was the most based clothing-related conversation I think I've ever seen on a fictional TV series or movie
I think he's talking about making TB slacks
not Dickies
his pitch is basically what if suiting pants but cropped more than the ankles
That sounds right
which is the fun nod to the producer actually being obsessed with TB and having TB do custom work for the show
Which is an awesome connection

The Story Behind Carmy's Fantasy Pants on 'The Bear' Season 2
Last year, it was the chef's sturdy white tee. This time, it's a fantasy pair of worsted wool trousers. We asked creator Chris Storer about the real pants that inspired the scene.
yeah it is 100% thom browne pants^
I think I shouted that at the screen when watching "he's talking about thom browne"
I think he mentioned Dickies in a different conversation
aye I am sure he did
Man, if only Whiteville was just a tad more affordable
It already is reasonably priced, but I technically don't need more t-shirts haha
I might just get one simply because I want a nice new apron https://www.bragard.com.au/travel-apron
Ayo and Matty are you a better source of inspo than whatshisface/Carmy. Here ends my input.
richie switching to suits post "forks" is an A+ example of someone dressing for themselves and how to navigate any pushback in response
I like how he still maintains his general crass language to show he is the same guy but more realised, and in a clean af suit
I think I am doing sorta the opposite of Richie as I am slowly making my work attire more casual whilst becoming more confident in my job
yeah - i don't want to make the correlation that self realization means wearing a suit in all cases but for him he saw an intrinsic benefit to changing his style (even if it boiled down to more respectsbility) by doing that
Definitely, that's his path
Like I am wearing more crisp plain T-shirts and less dress shirts
I soon want to add some Whitesville to my rotation with a nice overshirt
This made me remember just how much my wife hated Claire every moment she was on the screen.
But anyway, Sydneys fits>>>
to me, Claire is the biggest blind spot of the show
In what regard
She seemed really underdeveloped and out of nowhere, and we were on the verge of fast forwarding every scene with her and Carmy
She's basically a tabula rasa manic dream pixie girl character from the early aughts. Just an empty shell for the audience to project their "what will save Carmy" fantasies on to and it jars compared to most other characters.
an interpretation i heard about claire is that her lack of development makes sense if we're viewing her through carmy's lens
i think that's being a little charitable but it kinda makes sense
Manic pixie dream girl without even the manic, yeah
Kept waiting for the character to get any kind of development and just, didn't
isn't that kinda what carmy's doing (or did) to her though?
I mean maybe, but as you said, that's a very charitable interpretation given how fleshed out other characters are (the best defence I've seen of this is that she wasn't available for season 3 so didn't get an episode)
all this is to say claire is my least favorite character lol
I don't think we see any other character only through Carmy though, which enhances the 'claire feels jarring' thing for me.
she also has the least distinct "uniform" of the cast; in a show where the clothes are symbols or at least character-defining her lack of anything is telling and i assumed they were doomed because of it lol
way overly charitable because the show is not through his lens
Whitesville are my daily go-to, really recommend
I do need some navy tees so it’s a perfect opportunity to try
I also hear odd things about the sizing of Whitesville tees
