Footwear: Factory seconds vs Secondhand
Looking at Meermin’s factory seconds sale as I need some boots. Do you think there’s better value for your money with factory seconds or secondhand say AE, Alden on eBay ?

I don't particularly like Meermin's lasts so I go for Alden on eBay but it's whatever you like
Thank you. Have you found sizing to be consistent across brands? I have an AE store near me I can go to get my size but wondering if I need to make any adjustments from AE to Alden for example
Sizing is often not consistent within brands
I would do some research for the specific model you’re planning on getting
Depending on the last it will quite possibly be different sizing
Got it, do you have any resources on how I can compare a specific model from a different brand or within the brand to say the general Brannock sizing I get from AE’s store ?
Get your own brannock measurement. The SAs at AE are terrible and wrong all the time. The brochure is online and is like 2 pages with pictures.
Honestly r/goodyearwelt is probably going to have the most info on sizing between brands. Some folks here might know as well
You'll need to include stuff like your brannock, well fitting shoes + sizes and the specific model/last you're looking at

The AE seconds store has been great to me in the past
But only certain lasts fit me well, others are a complete pain
