Inconsistent first layer between prints with Beacon
I am currently struggling with first layer issues. I am currently only printing single layer 100 mm x 100 mm x 0.3 mm shapes to test this. My first print of a day or a work session starts looking decent and then the surface begins to have ripples indicating there is too much squish.
I remove the print and immediately reprint the same file (select reprint from within RatOS) and it prints without any of the rippling issues.
I have adjusted the microstepping for a motors to be 16 as was suggested by others here.
I have changing the heat soak time for the nozzle and bed from between 120 and 300 seconds.
I have redone the beacon calibration and final beacon calibration between changing each of these steps.
Each time the results are the same. First print has ripples as if the nozzle is too close and every print after that has a near perfect first layer attached are two photos, one of the first print and one of the print immediately following.
This morning I preheated the bed for 15 minutes before printing and the issue still occurred.

@Helge Keck Thanks for responding to my post in #beacon-contact Here is my issue with hopefully some more details. If you need any other information let me know.
this is most likely jsut a heat soaking issue
second print represents a completely heat soaked printer
whiel the first print has been done on a cool printer
you most likely jsut need to actiuvate or retune the heat soaking variables
That is what I figured, which is why I let the bed heat for 15 minutes today before the first print but the issue still persisted? Maybe I need to heat the nozzle as well?
try to add this to ypour printer.cfg file
then retry to print two times
these are high values to rule anything else out
it will take 20 mintues for a print to start
its jsut for testing pruposes
try this then come back and share the result
I am pretty sure I tried that the other day. I know I had 300 for hotend heat soak but I but I also had 300 for the bed heat soak time and the issue was the same. I can try it with 1200 and see. I will have to wait for everything to cool down though to verify the change
Not sure how long I need to let it cool down but I will give it an hour or two and try with 1200 and 300 and let you know!
Starting temps, should be close enough to fully cooled, not as cool as overnight likely. trying a print with the 1200 and 300 heat soak times now.
My other nitpick with the beacon is this blob left behind from the 3 poke tests. Happens every time.
@Helge Keck Perfect first layer with those heat soak times. So what’s the solution? Always be printing?
I realize that is not practical so what would be a practical solution? a "warm up" Macro for the start of the day to get things going?
